If you were to go trick-and-treating for Halloween, which candy bar would you most want to find in your collection afterward? |

Do you remember when you got home with that bag of candy and your Mom or Dad said; "Let me look your candy over to be certain it's all safe." And afterwords you weren't quite sure but, you thought perhaps some of the good stuff was missing? |

I'm surprised (and delighted) that no one has made the obvious choice: Candy Barr, circa 1955-60. The level of discourse must have risen recently around here. |

Tough choice. So many candy bars -- chocolate candy bars specifically -- just don't taste the same as when I was a kid. Had a Chunky a few years ago and the chocolate had no taste. same with mst Nestle's brand chocolate. Reeses peanut butter cups are still the best, but they're not as peanuty as they used to be. |

It's trick or treat, not trick and treat, as stated in the original post. The entire idea is that they junior mafiosi offer a choice to the homeowner: give us a treat, or we'll give you a trick. Of course, during the course of the night, one will meet many householders and both receive treats and inflict tricks. Nevertheless, in America we only call it "trick-or-treating," never "and". The American custom of trick or treat actually comes from British Christmas caroling, as shown by the lyrics to We Wish You a Merry Christmas. I want Toblerone bars. |

Actually, the US custom of trick or treat comes from the Scottish 'Guising' – but in the days before 'candy' or 'sweets' and the children going door to door on Halloween were supposed to perform for the householder before they got their treats, anything would do, a poem, song, joke or a dance. Look it up. |
