Looking for some nice 28mm plowed ground pieces. Who can you recommend? |

Go to a packing store and buy some of the cardboard that only has one side sealed. Then lay it flat, paint brown and flock. You can also make it look like vegetables are growiny by running a bead of school glue and adding green flocking. Very cheep to make |

Thanks for the advice, 45th, but apparently you missed the operative word "nice". :) |

I like these from Hotz Mats: link |

You can make your own good ones quite easily. White glue and flock. They don't really take that much time, but I prefer to just buy them. The ones I made are the ones lined with foliage in this picture, left of the house:
Here's a video on how to make them: link If you go to Fall In there is usually a vendor in the flea market who sells them. I have plenty and they look good mixed with the Hotz. He makes them in irregular shapes which really helps. I have a whole box of them waiting for me.
His name is Tom Breza: TomBreza@msn.com Here they are in action (the felt ones are Hotz pretty much all the rest are Tom's):
Also at Fall In, in the vendor hall, is Battlefield Terrain Concepts and he makes them in resin, painted and unpainted. |

I am in the process of creating my own range of scenery to compliment my painting service. Two lots of fields/plowed ground so far. Adding more to the range as I make them link |

I agree Sunjig, don't skimp on the cost of these very important pieces on a games table, those resin pre painted ones look perfect for your needs, I'd go for those. |

Doug at Battlefield Terrain Concepts does excellent fields. Peter |

I also really like Battlefield Terrain Concepts. They have a nice selection with several scales and shapes. I have a couple of them and am quite pleased with how they paint up. You can also buy pre-painted. |

There's a rather easy way to make them. Have a base piece of something heavier, then some thinner corrugated cardboard that you peeled the cladding off one side. Glue the cardboard to the base and use filler to add a raised edge around it and leading up to it. Texture the cardboard section with sand over the corrugation and your normal texture over the edges. The textured corrugation looks like a plowed field when painted up. |

We use brown Corduroy Fabric, cheap and to scale, from local fabric shop. |

Diane Sutherland made some nice plowed fields out of drybrushed courduroy in an issue of Miniature Wargames magazine about 6 months ago or so. They looked great and seemed pretty cheap and easy to make, too. |

Corduroy follows your table contours as well. Not a fan of the resin style, but each to their own of course. |
