Gotta love #4 – welcome to the Alien dance party.

They seem a little scrawny

They seem that way because they were sculpted at "true" scale rather than "heroic" scale, which is more common due to being less fragile at 25-32mm scales. The plastic/resin used for these is more durable, flexing where other types would break, allowing for the true scale sculpts that are more true to the characters seen in the movie, even though none of the figure sculpts are actually of actors in the movie. Excellent paint jobs, I'm doing a USN Navcam based scheme myself…

Based on that (25-32) Im guessing they are 28mm then?

Personally I have never cared for "heroic" scale, IMO, they just dont look right. I like my mini's to look as if they 'fit in' with period and other figures on the table.

So are these actual models, or simply premolded, miniatures that you paint for gaming/ display?

The Sculps from Prodos are almost perfect imo. Some of the best figures ever made, Marines (although the colour/camo scheme is a bit off in these pics), Preds, Aliens and pretty much everything they have put their efforts into. Prodos really have done a fantastic job with the figures for the AvP: The Hunt Begins…

However, this has been done at the expense of the KickStarter folks that helped them get there. Some of which, even after several years, have not received a single item whilst they have been on the commercial shelves for a year or so, and still getting issued commercially before KickStarters. They truly have no excuse left for this now. Whether sending full orders, or finishing off partial/incomplete orders, their behaviour has been nothing short of scandalous.

Take nothing away from the product, the figures are some of the best I have ever seen. Although the rules aren't very good, in fact, they could do with coming up with a version 3+ of the rules to simplify and balance a more suitable system for their excellent figures and board pieces – almost every item in the game is amazing, and as a box set, considering the amount of excellent figures, board pieces and other items, I would say it is very good value.

Prodos really have shot themselves in the foot, on one hand they have crafted an excellent product, but on the other they have damaged the trust of most of their hard core AvP customers and their willingness to spend any more money with them, with the way they have been treated through the KickStarter and post production. Such a shame it wasn't well managed and communicated right from the beginning, as this game deserved.

I love Prodos games models. These guys look great. My only complaint is that I wish they were multi-part posable figures.

Buy two packs and you will see what I am talking about.

Can you buy the miniatures separately?

Sulaco08 Dec 2016 5:30 a.m. PST

Nope, they come as a set of 5.

I think they have plans to do alternative poses.

Hopefully we see other Marine and related figures.

They are lovely figures, some details are incorrect but they have the 'feel' of colonial marines, number 4 is in that position cos it's running, lean it a little more forward and it looks good, cos of what these guys are made from they are easy to convert, I now have 18 individual marines made from the core 5
