…"MASAF" – HK416 Clone?.

"It seems the Iranian small arms industry is experiencing a bit of a boom – just released last week is another new rifle, called the MASAF, following the Fateh, Nabi, and two other unnamed rifles. The MASAF is obviously based on the AR-15, with a short-stroke…"

I find it interesting, from a geo-political stand point, that this rifle is chambered for 5.56 NATO not 7.62X39mm and appears to use M-16 compatible magazines. And raises the question why, IIRC with the exception of Saudi Arabia and Israel the rest of the Middle East and the "Stans"uses weapons chambered for 7.62X39 mm.

Export market? Gotta make some cash somewhere.

I'd bet Bahrain and UAE use 5.56x45. Also a lot of former US M-4s and M-16s circulating around Iraq right now too IIRC.

Damon.

It's so they can make Hollywood style movies. Just as Hollywood for decades have used Chinese ak and rpg copies for all things commie and terrorists.

Now ira can make movies about evil invading NATO counties. A sort of Iranian red dawn.

I assume you mean the proceeds from hosting the Miss Islamist pageant! The burqa competition was top-notch this year.

On the actual topic, Iran doesn't so much have an arms industry as they have a Photoshop industry. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they had put up an airsoft gun from Hong Kong to pass off as their new rifle.

They could be trying to flood the market with AR platform to crash US gun industry.
Once the US only has 2-3 gun companies left it'll be like buying the F-35 every time.

They're going for the long game man I tell ya.
