This week I was delighted to get my Dux Bellorum 10mm armies back on the table. Still one of my favourite games, still my favourite armies, but not used anywhere nearly as often as they should be. As we hadn't played in a while, we just threw down some terrain and randomly selected army tins.

I was lumped with the Romano-British of Rheged again who – though glorious to behold on the battlefield – have a pretty bad track record against the Irish, who would be commanded by Brett. The Romano-British are a nuanced, mixed force. The Irish much more of a one trick pony/blunt instrument. But it's a good trick, and blunt force trauma always hurts.

Beautifully painted armies and great AAR. I think you might have just lit a fire under me for a new endeavor. Any recommendations for someone who can paint 10mm figures like yours? My daughter just asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I think I know. grin

Cheers. They are fantastic figures – from Pendraken especially.

Great AAR, and a timely one, I hope to get a few games of Dux Bellorum next week at Fall In! Definitely whets my appetite to push lead. Love your paint jobs and basing. My resolution for the new year is to add to my Saxon and Irish armies and possibly add a 2nd Romano British and a new PICT army too!

Ragbones, in 10mm you can find suitable figures from Pendraken's late Roman range, with other figures from Pendraken's Vikings, Pict, Saxon and medieval ranges. Magister Militum has a nice Irish range that can form the bulk of that army and some of their Goths can be used as Saxons with tweaking. Good luck, it's a great ruleset that gives quick, fast and bloody games with a period feel.

My next project is to flesh out a Saxon army. Already adding more riders to my Romano-British. I can't use them very well yet, but they must be good for something!
