A simple request to make the Dark Ages accessible through two logical mega boards has bogged down into a food fight over nomenclature. Why can't The Editor simply say "OK" and either do it or say NO. Why does this have to wait 4 months (or 5 years) to reach a decision? Just do it! |

It's much more of a spectator sport this way. Plus, we can place side bets via PM about who will get Dawghoused. |

You didn't mention TMP 4.0 once, now didja? |

You should make a poll about it |

Looks to me like the winner is clear. And the 2nd place vote-getter is just as problematic, since the ivory tower types that dislike "Dark Ages" dislike "Medieval" as well. |

One does not come to TMP to publish papers on the Merovingian Franks. Although some of the denizens of Napoleonic Discussion…. |

Read "The Lottery in Babylon" by Jorge Luis Borges. Then you'll understand. (Cue ominous organ music): youtu.be/uIfoc-OLCGA |

You forgot to phrase your question in the form of a poll. |

Uhmm! I can't see where to vote in this poll. |

Agree about the Dark Age accessibility poll suggestion but to answer the question, I put it up because my understanding was that if it becomes a poll and a majority of people vote for it … then it happens . Yes, I agree – it could have been just done by the editor (and none of the nay-sayers would even have noticed) but I did make the suggestion a long while back (a request, not a poll suggestion) and it didn't happen. My poll suggestion 'what do you call the Dark Ages' came up as a poll and that reminded me to have another go at the accessibility request (this time trying the democratic route). Good to see the other poll going well, by the way – turns out well over half the respondents think that the Dark Ages in Europe should be called … err … The Dark Ages (who'd have thought it? ) … So hopefully this will turn out well too (and I'll be able to go direct to Dark Ages from either the Ancient or Medieval boards just as I can to or from DBx or, say, Field of Glory) … Fingers crossed Phil |

Yeah, if Winston doesn't see any merit in discussing something, how is it possible that anyone else could? |

I say make "Winston" the master of arms of polling. No poll gets selected until "Winston" approves. All comments must meet his parameters. One mans discussion of historical periodization is another mans food fight. |

Winston, you are not allowed to say "just do it" unless you give credit to the company that came up with that for their ad campaign to sell their products. |

You will notice that I have no power here, and am routinely ignored. All I am asking is that The Editor actually say "Hey! That's a good idea!" and just do it. He doesn't need input. |

Hey, it's either run everything as a poll or have the Editor, you know, edit which ones are worth running. And this is TMP, so… |
