Hello all! I'm designing a series of ~1/100 scale Dieselpunk Tank model kits, mix/match parts to complete your own kit. Finished model between 8 to 10cm tall give or take. 5 Designs total, covering the major powers of WW2. Parts are 3D Printed and come like this (except the leg in the lower right)
After assembly and painting looks like this
or this
interchangeable parts like these
Here's my full build log for the green one: imgur.com/a/YyR3U Build log for the blue one coming soon. I also have a kickstarter launching in about a week so keep an eye out in the crowdfunding boards. *Apologize for bad formatting, still getting a hang of the boards here. |

Very Cute this one! Sort of like a bipedal Crabgunner/Goliath <3

The rough cast on the green one makes it look great as a Soviet model! |

I'm not sold on the biped; looking at the size of the turret hatches, that gun appears to be a 16" naval piece!! But the quadruped looks fantastic! I love the completely different approach to the turret's design. 15mm isn't my scale for weird war two; I'd prefer these in 28mm. But, that does not detract from your excellent work. I hope we see more! |

Glad you all like it. @MacrossMartin yea 1/100 is a little small, but bumping up to 28mm would make these huge, and probably too expensive. As far as bore size… it's a beefy 240mm. Little exaggerated, but looks impressive. More parts can be seen here, 15 parts so far. link 2 more sets are in progress, American and British. Maybe another set or 2 of cannons. Plus a handful of backer rewards for the Kickstarter, so keep an eye out. Work in progress thread, lots of renders of the 3d models link Another pic of mixing parts… didn't intend for this to work, but it kind of did.

Looking realy nice! are the 3d files available to buy as stl files so whe can print these on our own 3d printers and scale them? I for one would like to have these in 20mm scale… |

Holy Smokes those are huge! (just saw the render with the human figure next to them). There is a lot I like about these designs, and especially that first Soviet turret. Do they come out to be about as tall as a 32mm Dust walker? |

I saw these a while back on Shapeways. The price-tag is the only thing that keeps me at bay. |

Yeah cost of production on demand is a big draw back. That was the major reason I made these at this size. At 28mm scale, these would probably cost well over 200$ per kit 3D printed. I started developing these after my first 3d print project the Baserunner imgur.com/gallery/fePVG, purely for personal enjoyment and learning the process, as it's been quite a few years since I last 3d printed anything. I was very happy with the results, but I was fairly shocked by the printing cost alone at the size I printed at, around 32cm or 12" length. Even with simpler parts printed on FDM which was about 50% cheaper, the total printing cost was over 600$. I don't know what it would be if I included the development time and painting and electronic work after printing. As far as 3d files for sale, probably not at this point. I doubt these would be printable on FDM printers, which is the most common type of desktop 3d printer. If you run Photo-resin printer, it's probably more expensive to print on your own if you factor cost of resin at around 100$ per liter, and labor involved in clean up. |

I do have this model, link , available under CC-BY-SA-NC if anyone want to try printing it. I'm curious to see if it turns out well on an FDM printer. It was modeled and packaged with SLS/Photoresin in mind. If you give it a try please share the results. should looks something like this, assembled around 10cm length.

These are very tempting, though I can't fund any kickstarters right now. Love that German quad. |

Very cool to see this turning into a line! But you're missing Japan! :) -Will |
nli2work | 26 Oct 2016 1:15 p.m. PST |
@Will, you're right! Japan is interesting challenge, I think most of their tanks were purchased designs from Germany an France? I'll have to do quite a bit of research, I definitely want to include them. |
wminsing | 26 Oct 2016 6:59 p.m. PST |
@nli2work – Their very early tanks where French and British designs, but by the 30's they had homegrown designs. They were definitely lackluster, as was shown during their border skirmishes with the Russians from 36-39. After this the Japanese army tried to step up armored design but they were hampered by lack of resources and lack of a clear mission; the type of warfare the Japanese were engaged in from 1941 on wasn't conducive to using tanks. But they had some fairly ambitious stuff being prototyped or under construction. If you are interested in more sources or info just let me know! As a concept, I suspect the Japanese Army would have high interested in a bottom-crawling amphibious walker…. -Will |

@Will I like the amphibious idea. Also thinkin something smaller, a break from the regular configurations. Something around the size of a Heavy Gear perhaps but less humanoid. Or a mid size quad like a very very early predecessor of Tachikomas. Currently working on American set, progressing nicely. |

Sounds good, can't wait to see the American walker. -Will |
