Scores of Iraqi army armored vehicles have been stationed at a camp on the southeast edge of Iraq's second-largest city, which has been for two years an Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) stronghold. Mosul won't be retaken until early next year at best … IMO …

Bangor, my national news feeds say they're still 5 – 10 miles away from Mosul, and attacking small towns and villages.

They've yet to attack Mosul with a single infantryman, 10 days after hostilities and "the attack on Mosul", which isn't, has supposedly commenced.

I believe in truth in reporting, not over the top misinformation and hyperbolic, but unfounded claims.

Send me a note when the first infantryman or vehicle of the "coalition" actually enters Mosul, proper. Heck, I'll even be gracious and accept a well-founded report of rifle or machinegun fire on the city by a coalition member.

Until that day, month, year comes, it isn't an "attack on Mosul", it is merely an attack on small villages, towns, and buildings near Mosul.
