Mansions of Madness 2nd edition has been out for a while now, and Caroline picked this game up last Friday since we had been talking about it and the new central feature – tablet app taking the role of the game master. It was very expensive, but after some pondering if found its way to our home and we spent most of Friday evening and the whole of Saturday playing it. I did not enjoy 1st ed MoM, but 2nd edition feels extremely well done and the overhaul of several areas such as combat, investigator sanity/health and the app running the story acting as the game master really improved the game beyond what I thought was possible. Good to hear. Like you I did not like the first edition. |

I have long had 1e, and never played. This edition's big change is huge for me. Plus, now everybody gets to be an investigator. AND it has backwards compatibility to the earlier edition. Win-win. I will try and pick 2e up before the end of the year. |

Like you, I have the 1st ed. and am looking at this one. Can you use anything from the 1st ed? I painted everything already, and would like to get some use out of it. |

I bought it. The 2ND edition comes with a conversion kit so that you can use everything you need to use from the 1st edition characters, monster minis and tiles from the base & expansions with the 2nd edition. When you use the MOM2E app you pick which 1st and 2nd Edition stuff you own. They are also sellin two 2nd expansions that add those 1st edition parts to the 2nd edition game for newbies. All that said, you don't need the 1st edition to play the 2nd edition. |

Great review, thanks. I've been on the fence about this one, but the tablet app makes solo play possible, so I'll probably do it. I'd love to see a version of "Betrayal at House on the Hill" that had a similar app to run as game master. |

You can download the App and kind of walk through a scenario to get the flavor of it. I did that and it sold me. |
