It seems that I have bought lots of rules or figures that I never used or used only once. Are you a gamer or a buyer?

vtsaogames24 Oct 2016 8:58 a.m. PST

I've bought lots of rules used once or never, and some figures likewise. But I play games nearly weekly so don't see the choice as valid.

I fit more in to the "buyer" category by a 3 to 1 ratio. I'm interested to see how this ratio pans out with those that see themselves fitting more in to the "gamer" category. I think we all do some buying with the best of intentions but…

Gamer. Definitely a, "Gamer". I only have a few figures which I do not put on the table to game with. Mind you, some of my projects are taking years to make it to the tabletop, but they are reaching the end, or, the game table. I can't see myself buying stuff I won't game with anymore. I cleaned my mini's inventory around a decade ago, selling off figures I knew I would never get painted -- and, therefore, would never game with. Now I am working on painting everything in my collection… Taking years to complete, but not buying figures I won't ever use. Cheers!

I once was a gamer but other activities have taken my gaming time but I still collect & paint. I have yet to play a 25mm Napoleonics game & I have some 12000 figures

FreemanL24 Oct 2016 9:46 a.m. PST

Definitely a gamer. My lead pile is down to the last 100 figures and I'll be done with them before November is through. I buy what I need and get it on the table so I've run out of things to paint several times since I've started painting miniatures. If it grows old, I will sell it after I let it sit a week or two to determine if I still want to game it. If I have any doubt, I keep it.

I love to paint and I think I am pretty good at it, but I love to game with friends more and that is always the motivator to get things done.

Probably a buyer if you look at the Basement Of Heaped Miniatures. Although I game more than some people.

A Buyer in search of the perfect Game.

Problem is I enjoy lots of different games and genres, so I tend to buy up for campaigns, projects, scenarios. Paint, build, write, and game them. Then sell down when it all hits critical mass in the game room.

Yes.

Yesthatphil24 Oct 2016 10:46 a.m. PST

I'm a wargamer.

Buyer, not by choice. Just never seems to be enough time to actually put figs on the table and play.

Old Contemptibles24 Oct 2016 11:52 a.m. PST

Both

HidaSeku24 Oct 2016 12:40 p.m. PST

More buyer than gamer, and I wish that was switched.

ubique124 Oct 2016 12:55 p.m. PST

buyer

Greylegion24 Oct 2016 1:52 p.m. PST

A buyer right now. I want to be a gamer though!

Buyer, especially if you include all my second-hand purchases.

Beowulf Fezian24 Oct 2016 2:47 p.m. PST

I'm a painter.

warwell24 Oct 2016 3:00 p.m. PST

I am a buyer of rules but a gamer with figures

Oberlindes Sol LIC Supporting Member of TMP24 Oct 2016 4:55 p.m. PST

My intention is to paint and play, not collect. For that reason, I consider myself a gamer, not a buyer.

nudspinespittle Supporting Member of TMP24 Oct 2016 5:32 p.m. PST

Buyer/painter/gamer, in that order.

pmwalt24 Oct 2016 5:46 p.m. PST

Nowadays … more of a buyer

elsyrsyn25 Oct 2016 1:01 p.m. PST

These days, sadly not much of either.

Doug
