First time using Black Powder rules in a recent Napoleonic game. I may have missed the answer to these questions in the rules:

1- How does a unit remove the Disordered status?
2- How much can a unit change direction when moving/when does it cost more movement or another order? Understand wheeling is an order, but what about turning while in column?
3- Can a unit be both Shaken and Disordered? It appears so as two different events cause those conditions.

1. Disorder is removed usually automatically at the end of the owning players turn, unless involved in close combat. There are exceptions though, see the special rules.
2. Movement is free form with no wheeling as such. Just ensure that no bases move further than the movement allowance.
3. Yes you can be both.

That is a great question – the disorder/shaken thing confused me when I first started playing Black Powder, but the disordered thing is a (usually) temporary thing that goes off at the end of the turn – what is does do is when your opponent disorders one of your units during their turn, kind of takes that unit out of play for your turn

And Shaken plus disordered means your lads are well and truly out of play!

I f you get disordered part way through your turn you stay disordered during the whole of your next turn. That's how we play it anyway.

Gary nailed it.

While we are on BP rules, how do you resolve two units contacting one enemy unit? Say, for example, two French columns can nicely fit the length of a large British unit and instigate melee. How does it work?

Our group has looked at this issue again and again….the rules are not clear, but they seem to say only one unit against each side. Which means two French columns do not hit simultaneously. One hits first, and resolved, and then the other.

Anyone can feel free to disagree. I would love to see a definitive answer on this from the rules writers.

Two points;

The removal of disorder was discussed at length in the early days of Warlords forum and the author himself clarified that he intended it to be removed at the end of the owning players turn. But how you play it is up to your group there are arguments either way.

The two columns vs one line is also discussed at length om the Warlords forum, again the author intended it to be possible, However the Albion Triumphant supplements relegate the second column to a support role.
