SESSION 35D: A DICEY EVENT

ROUND 3B – REVENGE

• One Shaken token is taken off each orc.
• Thomas reaches down and grabs Ghislain and drags him back 10ft out of harms way. Thomas yells out, "Regroup, regroup, we're getting too spread out."
• Asmara moves 20ft to the south and west. She makes sure that she is more than 30ft away from the wounded orc and then Channels Positive Energy again. Penn, Uthalin, Ghislain and Ansic are all healed 2pts back. Whilst Uthalin and Ghislain are still unconscious Penn is now combat effective again (albeit still quite wounded).
• Glad to have been saved by the party but very angry at the orcs, Penn moves 10ft to the east and dispatches one of the sleeping orcs.
• Lorah 5ft steps to the east and also kills one of the sleeping orcs.
• Halee moves 10ft to the east and fires an arrow at the orc in front of Dedrik but she misses.
• Ansic stabs at Dedrik's orc with his long sword but he too misses it.
• Dedrik slashes at the orc with his long sword and he hits it in the right leg for 11pts of damage. The orc is still up due to its ferocity but it is heavily wounded and will soon bleed out.
• Risandor casts Daze at the orc in front of Ansic. The orc will need to make a Will DC save of 13. It rolls a 12 – 1 Will save = 11. It fails and will not be able to act in the next round.

ROUND 4A – SAVAGE ASSUALT

• Dedrik removes a Shaken counter.
• The orc opposite Dedrik bleeds out a point.
• The orc opposite Dedrik growls an ugly sound of vengeance and slashes at the man at arms with its falchion and hits Dedrik in the left leg, severely wounding the man and dealing 8pts of damage.
• The southern most orc is Dazed and cannot do anything.
• The eastern most orc gets ready to charge Dedrik if his orc should die in the next round.

ROUND 4B – PARFAIT

• A Shaken marker is removed from each of the orcs. The Dazed marker is removed from the southern orc.
• Being wounded Dedrik must make a morale check (ironically the two previously wounded men at arms didn't need to make a morale check as they were rendered unconscious in the same round as being wounded). Its s DC 15 -2 because he has fought before for the group with a good outcome and the highest Diplomacy score in the party which is Halee with a -8 and -2 as he has military training = 3. He rolls a 20 and easily passes.
• Asmara Channels Positive Energy and heals back 1pt to Penn, Uthalin, Ghislain, Dedrik and Ansic.
• Penn kills the sleeping orc to his north east.
• Lorah moves 15ft to the south east and kills the last remaining sleeping orc.
• Halee fires an arrow at the orc in front of Dedrik but misses as she cannot just get a decent shot away because Dedrik is in the way.
• Thomas fires at the same orc and also misses with Dedrik again getting in the way.
• Dedrik slashes at the orc with his long sword and also misses.
• Risandor advances 10ft to the east and fires a round from his masterworked short bow and again misses because Dedrik is in the way.
• Ansic tries to put the badly wounded orc out of commission before it can do any more damage. He strikes across at Dedriks orc and hits it in the head, killing it with 13pts of damage.

ROUND 5A – BEGGING

• The orcs have taken 50% casualties and will need to take a morale check. They roll 11 on 2d6 and fail their morale of 8.
• The western most orc turns to run providing Ansic and Dedrik with an opportunity attack each.
• Ansic swings with his long sword and critically hits the beast in the head for 19pts of damage instantly killing the beast. Dedrik doesn't even get the chance to strike.
• The remaining monster drops to its knees and starts to beg for mercy. Surprisingly it can speak in Common. "Pleeasee don't keell mee. Ee surreendeer!!!"

[HOUSE RULE #6: Monsters understanding Common. In a bid to enable more discussion between intelligent monsters and the party, any intelligent monster will have a 1 in 6 chance of understanding Common.]

[Orc accent: Orcs always use two "e". Replace one "e" with "ee". Orcs don't use "i", replace with "ee". They cannot pronounce "th" which is pronounced with a "d" and they cannot pronounce ‘h' which is silent and removed from the spoken word].

A quick recap of party resources as follows:
- Halee unwounded with 9 out of 9hp left.
- Ansic with 13 out of 16hp left.
- Risandor unwounded with 9 out of 9hp left. Has used 1 first level spell and has 1 first level spell left and has all 7 rounds of Inspire Courage left.
- Uthalin, unconscious on -1 out of 14hp.
- Thomas unwounded with 13 out of 13hp left.
- Asmara unwounded with 10 out of 10hp left. Still has full complement of spells left (ie 3 first level spells which are Cure Light Wounds, Protection from Evil and Cause Fear) and she has 4 out of 8 Channel Positive Energy left.
- Lorah unwounded with 12 out of 12hp left.
- Penn with 3 out of 12hp left.
- Dedrik with 5 out of 12hp left.
- Ghislain unconscious with -2 out of 12hp.

Party equipment consists of:
- 5 healing potions
- 2 caltrops
- 2 tanglefoot bags
- 1 acid flask
- 2 flasks of oil
- 1 vial of antitoxin (Halee's personal kit).

Loot so far consists of:
- 9 falchions
- 8 sets of ears
- 1 surrendered orc (who speaks common)
- 18gp from the orc bodies.

Just some random observer thoughts: Might be a good time to regroup everyone in the SE room that can be defended with 1 way in and a corridor to channel enemies, also near the exit, with a watch at the south end of the NS corridor. Decide on healing. Question the orc – decide what to do and scout out west from the watch position, if appropriate. If there were more orcs around, would they have heard the noise of battle and come running? Also, how did the watcher orc behind the display of skulls get out to warn the guards? Is there some passage? Might be worthwhile to have someone look. At the last battle there were only 8 male orcs who fled (plus 1 female and Magor). Unless they were reinforced, there may not be many left…Close run battle. Glad things worked out the way they did. Might have been very different without the sleep spell.

So Thomas will gather the guards and potion them up.
I'm guessing someone will heal Uthalin and interrogate the orc.
Baby Cord will eat up so he can grow big and strong.
Thomas note to himself he needs to practice more with the bow.

Have that capture orc show us the secret door, or if it is too far away to reach easily, tell us. Question on numbers, is Magor still in charge, etc. Crude layout of the cave and if there are anything else besides orcs here--pets or animals/monsters.

Restrain his arms-tie them up before having him guide us about.

Question him on the west area also-seems a lot of potential to get surrou8 there…

Perhaps Asmara can save our potions with a few channel energy, and cure light wounds on Uthalin?

Agreed, we need the orc to talk, we should be able to get a good idea of what Magor has left and any tricks they have planned….
