I am obliged to have a life insurance policy because of my job.

The premiums aren't onerous and are reduced if you can prove your lifestyle contributes to good health & longevity.
For example, non-smokers get a reduction.

As I eschew fast foods & soft drinks for a healthy diet, run &/or go to the gym every day, I pay far less to belong.

Mental fitness is an area that as I grow older, is an area of interest. As most of us know, as you age, you need to "exercise" your intellect.

Wargaming: my hobby allows me to use higher order thinking abilities. I need to Remember historical data, Understand military history, Apply that information to building wargaming armies, Analyse the rules I use, Evaluate my tabletop performance & Create solutions to tactical difficulties.

However, I'm fearful that if I bring this to the attention of the Insurance company, they will consider me a mental midget who plays with toy soldiers.

Oh the Humanity.

I could be wrong, but I do not think wargaming will influence them one way or the other any more than telling them you are a video gamer.

Dschebe24 Oct 2016 4:14 a.m. PST

You don't only play with toy soldiers.

But you also inspire heavy metals when painting miniatures. Thease heavy metals are very bad for your brain, they make us 'older' and mad.

Maybe you discuss energically with your playmates when wargaming: these awfull rules, the way your troops perform, this forbiden move according to rules, the way we end talking about politics when gaming… all of these go against your calm and good health.

'To play'is a strategy that many animals have to practice the actitudes they need for their adult performance (to hunt, to stablish hierarchies…). So we all wargamers are suspects for delictive activities relating to conquering the World (after inspiring those heavy metals).

So, please don't tell your insurance company about your suspicious activities. Don't tell the police. Don't tell anyone. Don't tell anybody about me, either.

Sssshhhh.

Enric.

Write "I conduct conflict simulation exercises'. Forgetting is just flushing your black box due to overflow of unnecessary data.

…me a mental midget who plays with toy soldiers

And a finer fellow they will struggle to meet. Pay the excess, enjoy the kudos.

Much respect little guy peace

Mental health isn't put into question if you play with toy soldiers. It's put into question if your toy soldiers play with you.

Gaming enriches the mind, and society as a whole. Not only should it give you insurance rebates, but also tax deductions.

And while we're at it, gaming should help attract good looking women of substantial means!

Tell them you play chess.

That's one, socially acceptable wargame that exercises the mind. No need to bother them with other games you play.

Ah, word of my strip DBA sessions with supermodels has leaked out then.

wrgmr124 Oct 2016 2:15 p.m. PST

You could tell them you play complicated tactical and strategic games.

Henry Martini25 Oct 2016 3:24 a.m. PST

In reality though: substantial looking women of good means.

The wargamer's confession: 'I PLAY CHESS!…(sotto voce) with a thousand pieces'.
