I listened to several members of the US Naval Wargames College at a conference in September, but hadn't checked the website for some time. etotheipi linked it though in another thread and I noticed they have a compendium of wargaming terns, which might be of interest:

I suppose I'd prefer people to comment in the thread without a typo in the title…

Wow, thatīs really fun reading, thanks for the link!

Very interesting,

The whole process of Professional Wargaming jumps out. Losing one of these games could really ruin your week. There was also an interesting cross-over of real units reacting to wargaming results in live exercises mentioned and vice versa as real intelligence impacted on the table game. Facsinating stuff. Thanks.

It is an interesting list. Of course, they are only technical terms if the military uses them to design wargames.

I think it acknowledges different approaches in the opening paragraph McLaddie and helps make professional games more accessible. 'Its purpose is to inform rather than impose.'

Having read Phil Dutre's piece about how he felt that there was a vast gulf between professionals and hobbyists (even though many professionals are also hobby gamers and have created them). I thought it might encourage people to look at what else might be of use on the site.
