The poor Caledonians really got thrashed. Maybe some blade avoidance and more use of terrain could have helped! Mobile armies need to avoid the legion line and work flanks.

Ouch!!!

Actually, I ran Early Saxons against my nephews LIR last week. AA little more even results 5-4. He tends to break his troops up and under utilize some of the elements. But LIR vs a warband army is tough.

The Caledonians did take a thumping as 3Wb are brittle even against Roman auxilia (4Ax). Caledonia fight on the same ground as Rome (arable), then again two wood and a river just may have changed the game.

The last games scheduled have the Pict and Tervingi against Rome. Those should be interesting fights.

Following up the two projects (Consular army + Severan Dynasty) I am researching the period Theodosius I restoration of the empire and the events that followed.

This new project will involve the painting of new armies and amendments to the current campaign rule set to include the migrations. This should start early November.
