Hi everyone,
i wanted to know of Kensei miniatures have historical accuracy (armor, weapons, cavalry…) or rather fantasy ; obviously for a lot of people,Perry miniatures and Kingsford are the references, but i admit preferring Kensei miniatures for the dynamic poses and realistic body.
Thanks for your help !

ps: Can someone put some pics for a comparison size of Kensei vs Perry miniatures BUT with the same kind of character ?

Regards
Tane

Kensei are a mix, some are completely accurate while some have a bit of a fantasy twist. I've bought from both ranges, and I'm happy with them all even though I haven't got around to painting my kensei minis.

The Kensei minis are a bit taller, but I don't think they are so tall that you can't mix them, especially if you do it in separate units. I'll try to remember to take some comparison pics once I get home from work.

I have both Perry and Kensei and I just use them in different units. I tend to
use the Kensei figures for special units and their character figures which are just so nice. However the Kensei figures are pricey and a bit more fiddlely to put together.

By the way I bought way too many Perry Samurai and Korean figures that I will never paint. If anyone is interested please PM me.

If you are looking at Kensei – I highly recommend the Painting War volume on Samurai. Each painted example has a brief description of the figure's history and why the colours were selected that way. This has completely changed my view of Kensei figures. There are also a couple of Perry figures in the book/magazine. This is not a beginners' painting manual
