Obviously we all love what Perry has released over the last several years: ACW, Napoleonics, WOTR, HYW, Sudan, AWI, etc. etc. But…but…when are we going to get the beautiful Perry treatment of some Ancients topic?? |

PLEASE! I'm still waiting for them to finish their British Intervention Force range! |

When they decide they want to play some ancients and can't find a line of figures they like. That's when. There are already very nice Greeks, assorted eras of Romans and Carthaginian boxes available from others. Why wait? |

When they decide they want to play some ancients and can't find a line of figures they like. And figure out that it might sell enough when done in plastic – otherwise they might just stick with metal. That said, I don't think that they have done any metal ancients since they left Foundry. |

Have you checked out Victrix? |

I have – but there's just "something" about the Perry models that I love. |

How about Persians? I got a ton of Greeks but no Persians to stomp… |

Wargames Factory has released plastic Persian infantry and cavalry sets, but they are a bit limited in variety… As for Perrys, if they get back into ancients, I would presume that they would try to release matching historical opponents for some historical conflict of their interest, as tends to be their habit (see for example the recent Cape Frontier Wars range they have launched in metal). So you probably would not see Perrys doing a range of Persians without opponents. You also might not see them doing matching ranges of Greeks and Persians, with all of the existing Greek ranges out there. (And if Victrix or Warlord does not see plastic Persians as financially interesting, why would the Perrys?) |

We have sadly to accept (for ancient fans) that the Perrys are very into Middle Ages and onwards. They did indeed do some great ancients. This was possibly a passing phase rather than any passion for ancients. May have this wrong but cannot imagine any more ancients coming from Perry. |

Not suprisingly there's a definite trend in all things "British" in their ranges. Taking the medievals back to the Anglo Norman period might be an option. The current Crusade range would do nicely for them leaving open options for the Scottish and Welsh wars and several civil wars. The Scottish and Welsh might best be covered using metals but plastics however could be used for two sets of generic 10th/12th and 12/14th century Western Medieval infantry types covering mercenaries, militias and feudals. This in itself would open up the possibility of economically assembling other contempory armies such as Low countries, Feudal French, German and Italian. etc |

I am currently assembling Victrix Spartans. Very nice figures. A lot of assembly compared to Perry, nonetheless I would recommend them. No need to wish for Perry Ancients. Not a fan of Warlord Spartans though. |

Not suprisingly there's a definite trend in all things "British" in their ranges. There certainly is, especially with their most recent ranges. If they would choose to make a range of ancient figures for conflict in Britain, there might be a few choices: - Roman conquest of Britain - Roman border conflicts with Picts etc. - Anglo-Saxon invasion of post-Roman Britain in the 5th century The first one might have enough commercial potential to justify plastics, but there are already other competing sets out there (especially for the Romans). |

This was possibly a passing phase rather than any passion for ancients.May have this wrong but cannot imagine any more ancients coming from Perry. I have to agree. If the Perry's ever do ancients again I think they would be in metal. At the moment, I would be happy to see plastic Agincourt mounted men-at-arms released. I have to agree about Victrix. They are putting out some really nice ancients. And in all honesty, I preffer Victrix faces over Perry. They tend to have more character and are easier to paint. BTW, Perry plastic Mahdist Ansar make reasonably good pre-Isalmic Arabs. |

I love both Victrix and Perry plastics and have fair amount of both. Of the two Perry tend to be easier to assemble but Victrix have learnt from their earlier kits and have become less fiddly over time. With Macedonian and Greek figures I would love someone (either Victrix or Perry) to do decent plastic Persians. It makes most sense for Victrix to do this as great adversary for their existing products. I can't see Perry's doing plastic Persians without them also doing an adversary. I agree with Griefbringer that they are most likely to do something British in flavour. I don't really want yet another plastic EIR range. Plastic Late Romans / Angles / Saxons might be good option for Perry's, |
