So, I was surfing the net yesterday trying to find an answer for someone and stumbled on a source of miniatures for the old Metagaming game "Rivets". That got me to wondering: Besides the obvious (Rivets, of course!) what rules set would I use with them? How do you stat out a Jack Bopper or a Tiny Bopper? Regards, Scott Chisholm |

Wait a minute! Can you back up and give a link for the source of Rivets miniatures? I would be very, very interested! And that said, in reference to your original question, I always thought just to adapt the actual Rivets rules to a tabletop. Change references to "hexes" in the rules to 40mm basewidths (because I've got a lot of rulers marked out in 40mm for use in everything from Maurice to DBA), and not allow units to come within one basewidth of an enemy. Just like you, I thought adapting the quite unique nature of Rivets' combat to existing rules would be tricky. |

Hmmmm…. Nobody was supposed to show an interest in the minis, just provide me thoughts for the rules…. ;-) I found this by accident yesterday while trying to identify a miniature for someone. It's a site called the Science Fiction Museum: sciencefictionmuseum.org Go to the "Game Room" then the Martian Miniatures link. He's asking 49.95 USD per blister pack. Not cheap, but what habit is? I remember that game – and those figures. I picked up a bunch when they were first out. I checked out the prices on that website – and they're ridiculous. The guy must be planning to retire on the proceeds (because it'll take until he's an old man before any of them sell). |

I've got the game buried somewhere, never been played (sorry, not for sale… ;-) May have to dig it out again to look at it. |

Its a cute little game, played it a bunch when it first came out. Even carved a few of my own minis out of balsa wood. Ogre Miniatures would be an obvious choice, you might be able to get away with using the stats as is. I'd probably try something more tactical, but that's a lot more work. |
