OK, I have just bought some Hobby Boss 1/700 models: do I build with periscopes, masts, etc up or retracted?

I had thought probably down as there seems little point in them being up at anything other than periscope depth. Would subs ever run at sumerged depths with these exposed?

For periscopes, only at very slow speed while taking a look at the underneath of another vessel. So, not really. Snort, radio/radar/EW masts, no.

Masts up on the surface or at periscope depth only.

They're never raised when deep.

Thanks, that's what I assumed. Down it is. Also, less things to get broken!
