I see Zvezda announced today that the Sturmtiger is now on sale. If anyone sees a UK retailer with it in stock, please shout up! |

I don't understand why on earth these companies bother with super rare vehicles like the Sturmtiger. Mean to say, why devote time and money to a vehicle that had 18 real world examples. Hey, I love all things late war German, but why this? |
Fatman | 18 Oct 2016 6:16 a.m. PST |
Unfortunately the answer is because they will sell. The 3rd Reich fanboys don't care that they were rarer than rocking horse shit, and practically useless, they just see another example of Nazi "SOOPER KEWL!". I wish they would do more early war kit or some North Africa stuff. Fatman |

Oh and of course they have already mastered the tracks and lower hull. ;-) Faman |

I'm with you Fatman, we need more stuff for North Africa. |

With you Fatman and Tom. What about say a nice Grant? |

Doubt that wargamers are the main buyers… most wargamers wouldn't buy more than 1 or 2 at best. No, look good for modellers and as toys, much bigger market than wargamers wanting a dozen or so of vehicles that don't appeal outside the hobby. |

If you're not interested, move on, nothing to see here. way to hijack the thread and put down those who don't adhere to your own standards! (Fatman) |

Yayz, more fun toyz! I'm still eagerly awaiting their Jagdpanther and Jagdtiger. And umm, Zvezda does make a nice Lee, and many of the bog-standard tanks, and early war ones too. |

Oh and for clocking Zvezda distribution, their July releases hit UK retailers in September. So probably a couple of months for these to trickle down the supply chain too. I just got my pair of King Tigers from PSC. Very sweet kit. With current exchange rates, they cost the same for me coming from PSC in the UK or from the Warstore here in the US, and PSC got them first. |

Zvezda make stuff for the 'Art of Tactic' game system, and yes, it sometimes includes some questionable choices. But any company which enables me to buy four T-26s for a ten quid gets a huge thumbs up from me, even if I occasionally have to do stupid things like file down the gun barrels on the Flammpanzer IIIs to make them into Pz III Js. I probably won't buy the Sturmtiger though, as I already have a 20mm one:) |
miniMo | 18 Oct 2016 9:45 a.m. PST |
I don't need a Sturmtiger now, but if in a future manga Black Forest Peaks High School Senshado team drives on, I'll definitely grab one then ^,^ |

Indeed they do make a Lee which doesnt help my poor British North Africa forces. Would be helpful for Americans in Tunisia. And Mark is right. They are making stuff to go with their "Art of Tactic" game system. One reason we get vehicles in 15mm (1/100th), infantry and guns in 1/72nd. |

Cathus In what way did I hijack the thread? "john lacour" asked why they produced a model of this obscure vehicle and I gave two reasons I think they did it. It will sell and part of the mastering has been done making it a cheap option. Now the fact that I am cynical about the sort of person which I think will be the main customer base is neither here or there, those are the reasons I think they made this choice. Oh and I have no interest in any of their models which are for after 1942 my personal cut of date however things like the Pzr IVF2, Tigers Panther and Jagdpanther are much more ubiquitous and useful for gamers. GarrisonMiniatures Toy sales may be a part of their sales but I don,t see modelers buying many 1/100th has never been a popular scale with AFV modelers and lets be honest while OK few of their releases are exactly finely scaled masterpieces. Not that has stopped me from buying loads of their early war stuff for my IABSM Blitzkrieg period armies. Oh and I would also buy a lot of T-28's if they did it. Fatman |

miniMo The Jagdpanther is a really nice model, although I am sure somebody will tell me it has loads of mistakes, it looks like my old Matchbox Jagdpanther from the 70's and that's good enough for me. I have seen the Lee and it's nice too. It might just be enough to tempt me to do Burma. Martin Rapier Yeah at least in their own region I think AoT players are their bread and butter market. And I totally agree on the price. My panzers for 1940-1 are mostly Zvezda and my Soviet vehicles are almost exclusively from them. And chagrin that their lovely guns are the "wrong" scale do not bear repeating. ;-) Fatman |

Fatman, The thread was a simple request for help from the usually helpful members of the forum to source something I am interested in buying. To be fair, I was directing the second half of that sentence to you, the bit about your opinion on those interested in the item and you are quite right your opinion is neither here or there nor relevant to the topic, apart from being quite derogatory. I note that only one reply relates to the actual topic and question posed, thanks miniMo! So rather than being pleased that someone else's wish has been fulfilled by Zvezda, your take is "what a load of crap, why aren't they making stuff for me? (North Africa) |

You're welcome Cathus. I try to not wander off topic until the OP has been answered. Sometimes that's hard around here :3 For more useful info in the off-topic rambles: I do have 3 of the Zvezda Lees. Had 1 to use as a Lee and then got 2 more for Grants. Figured I would muddle through the turret issue rather than get different looking hulls by going completely to a different and metal manufacturer for the Grants. While placing an order with Skytrex, was able to order a couple of Grant turrets to swap in. They should arrive shortly. |
