The next battle will be that of Froggieboddom on October 29, Saturday.
An Ikean Army and a brigade of native levies will attack The Neverneverlands, whose army is out of commission recovering from the battle of the Inka-Dinka-Doo, and who will defend with two brigades. This is almost a two to one superiority however The Neverneverlands is using his resource of his terrain geomorph to pick the terrain. His geomorph is reminiscent of his archetype, The Netherlands and there is a lot of water, rivers, ponds, bogs and light woods and forest.
This geomorphic of 12 by 12 hexes, of which he gets to pick 54 contiguous ones, in a rectangle, oddly exactly the size of the game table. This allows him to get a fairly difficult terrain which he can make quite defensible.
The strategic options for Ikea are largely determined by his army and Brigade. These are pretty much the only forces he has left. But he has a special resource, "The Bank Loan which will allow him to recover all units at the end of the turn). This is a great advantage, but this is a one-time-only use.
The strategic options for the Neverneverlands are what he chooses as his Brigades Most likely he will chose two elite brigads giving him very good troops to squirell away hin the hidey-holes and defensive positions at the bottle-necks. However he could chose one elite brigade and an Engineer brigade which would allow him to spread around four redoubt hexes. These could make the terrain, already cut up with rivers and ponds, small hills and forests, into a true quagmire of defense.
It would also allow him to fortify the two villages on the field, Froggieboddom and Muckenmire. This would make them almost untakeable and it is quite likely the majority of the victory tokens of the Neverneverlands will be placed here.
I shall fill out the usual battle reports after the action.
Again, if any TMP'rs would like to come to the game you are invited, just let me know.
