Hey everyone, I just was wondering what people think are the best set of paints for nato 3 color camo in 15mm. I'm trying to figure out what to paint my Leopard 2s for team yankee. Battlefront says that it is the same color as WW2 russian tanks but I'm not sure that is right. |

AK interactive and Ammo from Mig. Dual use for brush and airbrush, they sell a NATO set that are both quite good. |

Got a preference between the two? |

Tamiya NATO black, green and brown. |

Tough call on preference…they're essentially the same. AK has free worldwide shipping. There were known quality issues with early batches from both, all that means is buy from a source with high turnover. |

For Bundeswehr, be aware that they did not use the standard NATO paints. link For example, the base color, RAL9021 Teerschwarz is quite different from the US base color of FS34079 Forest Green. |

The FS number for the green that they list on that site is the same as what ive seen for the US version. The Ral number leads to a different vma than the fs 595 though. Also the colors are listed backwards on that site. Teerschwarz is the black. |

You are indeed correct, serves me right for posting in haste before running into a meeting, my apologies. I also made a mistake on the US base color, the FS34079 was the base for MERDC, not NATO 3-color CARC, that was FS34094. The RAL 6031 Bronzgrun is different from the FS34094, despite what it says on the ArmouredAcorn link, lighter and more bronzish. My friend paited some Leo 2s up that looked good when compared to US CARC, doubt he remembers what he used there. A guy with a Meng model kit ( link ) said they recommended a mix of Vallejo Russian Green and Gunship Green. Maybe thats a decent place to start? Probably not a big deal if there arent going to be any Americans on the table. If so, as long as the BW green is lighter than the US green it's probably close enough |
