A few weeks ago, we played our first test run games using Twig66's home rules for Senshado. I loved the way the rules played out, made for very exciting games and really captured the flavour of Girls und Panzer very nicely!

We made one tweak to the rules, which was that guns fired from lightest caliber first up to heaviest. Within each gun class rating, the player with initiative fired first, and then players alternated firing within that class before moving up to the next one. This gives the lighter tanks a firing edge in speed over the heavies, and re-loading time of heavy guns factors strongly into the story telling of the show.

I finally sorted out the pictures from the games and wrote up a very photo-heavy After Action Report on the blog: link

Here are a few highlights, many more pics on the blog:

Game 1, Suanders and Kuromoromine enter the field. Maho's Tiger is Kuromormine's flag tank coming up the center. Alisa drives Saunders' M4A1 flag tank into cover in the woods.

As the slug-fest in the center valley proceeds, with many a shell bouncing off Maho's armour (but eventuallly disabling her), Erika in the King Tiger finally brings the flank pincer through the rocky ravine and charges down towards Alisa.

Alisa sprints away to cover behind the far hill, she can be seen in the top left corner in the picture below. Meanwhile, her team captain Kei, deftly breaks up Erika's prusuit. Kei deftly reversed, spun to face and charged right in, scraping fenders with the King Tiger to get in under its gun, while pouring fire into the flank of the Sturmgeschutz! And the battle is decided in the center where a pair of M4's have broken through the line getting behind the disabled Tiger I and disabled Panther. At long last, concentrated fire on its rear KO's Kuromoromine's flag tank for the victory.

The next match against Pravda unfolds with somewhat similar opening moves. Although Pravda's T-34's race through the ravine in a much faster flanking operation than the King TIger could. Saunders' flag tank, a plain M4 this time, again bolts for cover away from the flanking pincer. But the body of the Sherman Corps breaks through all along Pravda's main battle line.

But that flag tank is a formidable IS2, crewed by Nonna their best gunner along with their best loader. Nonna slowly reverses, taking out Shermans left and right with steel-eyed precision. But eventually, the weight of numbers wins out in the press and inescapable flanking fire finally KO's the mighty IS2 for another Saunders' victory.

In the time since these games, Pravda's tanks have received their Company B decals. And Jatkosota should be done in time for games next weekend!

Cool
I'm working on my minis, can't wait to start gaming Senshado

Nice job with the terrain, I recognise the flat top hill and ravine from the episodes. Looks like Saunders player has a solid grasp of Senshado, could Pravda have been a bit more sneaky and Kuromorimine used formations more effectively? Though, Maho's Tiger gets damaged in every game we play too.

Thanks, the terrain was fun to make and went up pretty quickly the week before the game. With the other smaller terrain pieces scattered around, there was plenty of cover to keep the match focused on maneuvering and sneakiness.

I've got a pile of superb and cheap Tomy Tec N scale buildings on hand from Hobby Link Japan and Hobby Search, but it's going to take some time to build up the city scenery, and I want to get more teams rolling before I shift to city building.

I also have a handful of the old Nitto/Fujimi 1/76 small brick houses that are a perfect size for doing up Pravda's winter village (they were always on the tiny side for 1/76 footprints). Just need to do some snow terrain to set them in.

Good looking game!

What are those striped paperclips representing?

We were using those to mark when tanks fired. Will likely come up with something a bit more decorative in the future.
