Ok, I'm not here to announce them (that's Tango's job – amicalemente!)but to just say "Wow!", they've really taken a great leap in their Caesarean range. Kudos to them! They've really filled a gap, not in the sense that they're they first, but their products are more affordable than others.

I've always been curious about Late Republican Cav and its shadowy disappearance. Releasing a set of these is a pretty bold move for Warlord because of the ongoing debate even about their very existence. Last mention of them I've heard of is 88 BC against Jugurtha, as I recall. And surely there were some cav of both type in the Social Wars of 91-88 BC. As far as I know, only Old Glory has a set of late Republican cav, and those models have their own issues (but are still very usable, I think, with minimal conversion).

So WG puts out Repbulican cav and claims that Pompey and Caesar, et al. trained and equipped them in a Roman fashion. I'm thinking that Warlord's new republican cav would make great mounted Praetorians of the time and maybe more and more of auxiliary cav over time look like them. But many would have been recruited and fought in their native style at first, adopting chain armor and typical Roman ovular shields as time went by. Overall, I think that these models really have a place in the Late Republic, but one could also field "native" cav alongside them and have no "historical" worries. But I like the Praetorian bodyguard idea. Any thoughts on this?

Now, WG, if you're listening, let's see some Parthian cataphracts to go against your Crassus model! If they're anything like your Dacian cats (which are the cat's meow), they won't dissapoint!

I have just seen them on the Warlord's website, I will definitely have a unit of them. You could always use them as very well equipped Gallic/ auxiliary cavalry.

They look nice enough, though I'm scratching my head as to why they're sold in units of 10 when Warlord's in house rules, Hail Caesar, call for units in minimal multiples of 6 (…12 and so forth). Mind you, the HC Army List doesn't include late Republican Cavalry…

I looked for them, and came up empty. Link?

Ooh. While their existence is controversial, I'm thrilled to have the option of getting some, since I'd already acquired some early Republican cavalry to sub in for them. Warlord are really going to test my budgetary discipline in the coming weeks and months, I suspect.

I totally agree Deuce, they're very nice, lots of potential. I tend to think that lack of evidence cannot disprove a thing. There was probably a gradual drop-off.

Lucius, here you go. If the link doesn't work then just copy it.

Helpful for both sides of my Spartacus collection. Lots of conversion possibilities.

The new command figures look very nice in photos. Nice unique horse poses and recognizable facial features rather than cookie cutter.

It's odd that, having produced these figures, there's no real mention of or rules for Roman cavalry in the new Age of Caesar supplement. The usual cavalry auxiliaries get a mention but not the Roman ones. I guess that by default you'd use the same rules as for Spanish medium cavalry but it's still a bit strange.
