Have you ever lost a friend because of the hobby? |

Sort of. An older gaming buddy of mine from Corpus Christi was a great guy, but kind of a nut. His necessities were his luxuries, his luxuries were his necessities. He didn't take care of his health, and arguably died sooner than he should have. This same friend was ex-military and retired from the U.S. Navy. Without meaning any disrespect to my friend or others who have served, I have heard of the phenomenon of people learning to hate physical fitness while they served, and then casting it behind them when they got out of the service. I hate to say it, but I think this applied to my old South Texas friend. Ultimately, our hobby didn't kill him, but his own habits did. I miss Nick. Jeff P.S. I have my share of weaknesses too. No judgement intended. |

I had a friend who died in an automobile accident on a way to a convention. Years ago, I almost lost a friend over a game, but it was a boardgame, not a minis game. Fortunately, we resolved our differences within a few days. |

Lost one many years ago when he was selling my figs and not telling me about it … or sending me payment. |

I cut off my friendship with a fellow gamer, but I was not because of something he did in a game. |

Yes. The friendship started off alright, until things were missing from my collection of miniatures and books, then strangely appearing on his shelves. After confronting him, he said he was simply storing them there until he was finished using them and that I had loaned them to him (not the case). Fast forward, several of us noticed that he was cheating on die rolls on more than one occasion. I stopped inviting him to games as I have no time for thieves and cheaters. |

Yes, because I can get too competitive. |

Internet friends? It does seem odd that you can label people you've never met "friends" but as we'd chat via PMs as well as on threads I guess I can call them that. If so, I lost a number in the last 6 months when they left or were were shown the door. A pity because you may never hear from them again. |

It does seem odd that you can label people you've never met "friends" I'm of the generation where we had "pen pals", so it's not odd to me. To the OP … NAH! I'm pretty much so repulsive that people can't last long enough to get miffed over a game. It's kinda like why people didn't get cancer as much in the old days … other things killed them first. |

Acquaintances yes, friends no. |

If they are actually friends and not merely fellow gamers ,you won't lose them over a game . If they are just people you game with and you lose them they likely weren't worth the bother in the first place (whether it was their or your fault) |

Yep. Not sure why but I'm not invited to play anymore with guys I've gamed with for over 20 years. Must not have been that much of a friend to them I guess. |

No friends lost. There are several total jerks I will no longer game with, however. |
