..how often people post things to the wrong century when it comes to chosing a board? Either there are lots of fat finger errors going down, or.. and I fear this is the case – quite a few get their centuries muddled up. So much for the hobby being inspired by an interest in history…

I'll go with fat fingering, complicated by the "18th Century is the 1700's??!!" problem I used to hit in actual History majors.

I'll still argue that historical gamers are better informed than the bulk of the population, and usually some historical event(maybe in a movie) brings them in, though I'll admit I wince a bit once people start talking army lists and point systems.

Just once, I'd like to hear someone argue about the historicity of an army list, or the real life value of the weapon or unit as opposed to "this is a real bargain at 225 points."

I confess that I am at a loss as to how much is ignorance versus carelessness. Have you not also noticed how many times people are posting pictures of their latest unit on discussion boards instead of gallery boards, where they should be?

I save my arguments about the authenticity and accuracy of a list for discussion with the list authors or historians. TMP is not ideal for discussion as the signal to noise ratio in most responses is very low compared to somewhere like the TNE wiki.

Chill out dude the centuries are just numbers, 500 years apart, no biggie… wink

The 19th Century pages are a classic example.
