…turn it into a 1:1 ratio game? I know it uses the FoW mechanics using 5 figures to a base. Can you use 1 single based figure having the same rate of fire as a stand of 5 without loosing the "feel". Considering most units in Fow had a RoF of 2, single based minis seem more realistic…I don't know, just spit-balling right now. I want to try this as skirmish game… |

Don't see why not. TY infantry all have fully automatic assault rifles (M16, AK etc.) as the most basic weapon anyway. |

To be honest it depends what you want. At 1:1 you should start getting tanks to point in diffrenet directions depending on the threat. TY ds a multi base stystem does not do this well. Grunts may be OK but that is only part of the game. |

I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you asking: 1) Can I use a single mounted figure in place of the 4-5 man stands the game normally uses? Yes, but whether it feels right or not only you can say. 2) Can I assign a stand's worth of stats to individual soldiers and just have a lot more stands? So my squad is not 2 or 3 stands of 4 but 12 individual men. After all, TY IS a 1:1 scale game as it is. It just equates the fire of 5 men as 2D6…. |

Please note that in TY tanks ARE at 1:1 so you do have to point tanks/turrets in different directions. |

Yes – I already think of it as a 1:1 game – just saves on painting infantry figs and the minutiae of small unit tactics to represent a section of 8 men with a base of 4-5… |

I wouldn't do infantry with TY at 1:1. If wanting one man to one mini, choose another rules set. |

If a base of 4 equal an 8 man section then the firing factors take the different weapons into consideration. So would need different factors otherwise a rifle will be the same as an LMG\SAW. Plus as 417 say various tactics and command features have been factored in. |

From what I can see I like the simplistic rules when dealing with vehicles and the stat cards. I suppose I could come up with some infantry rules that are just as simple…Visually I like single bases figures. Looks better IMO, especially when clustered around terrain. Having a base of 4 figures teetering on a sandbag emplacement or building detracts from the game… |

Stepman3, as has been mentioned TY is a 1:1 game, but the 'simplest' way to achieve what you're talking about IMO is to move and fire your single-based miniatures as a fire team. Move and fire 4 US infantry at a time with combined firepower and remove all 4 when killed. Any type of single-infantry fire system would change the way the game plays dramatically and honesty you're probably better off with another one at that point. TY does an excellent job simplifying, but part of that is because you don't have to manage individual stands and partial/diminishing firepower from a team aside from simple effects like pinning. Are you hoping to play the same "company plus" level of action, or more "platoon plus" battles? |
Stepman3 | 16 Oct 2016 9:11 a.m. PST |
More Platoon sizes battles. Force on Force is an option for rules but the games I've played seem overly complex and the rulebook is set up terribly… |

I was going to ask much the same.. Whats your preference, squad, platoon or company size games? IMO, if your wanting a modern 1:1 infantry w/ armor support game, then might I suggest you take a good look at Bolt Action and then make a few changes to accomadate the modern weapons of the period as you see fit. I have played 28mm BA and enjoy the game, but must say at 1:1 ratio, I would not want to do anything more than a reinforced Inf. platoon (30-40 figs) at 'the' most. Even though in BA you move entire squads at a time, with 1 to 1 basing, you still have to move "each" fig one at a time. |

Yes. Platoon level action… |
