"Hoffman's Army: The Thirty-First Virginia Infantry, CSA is a history of a Confederate regiment of volunteers from ten western counties in Virginia. This is the tale of the men who served not only against the Union, but also waged political and legal war with one another in what was a very political regiment of lawyers, legislators, newspapermen, doctors, shopkeepers, farmers, and others. They fought in most of the major and many minor battles in Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. They were Hoffman's Army."
