I'm painting my first WSS regiment, Swabian Cuirassiers. Grant says they had leather cuirasses. Any idea what colour these might be? |

It look strange enough. However leather cuirass color (and a look trough Google Image will confirm it) should be between a reddish cuir and a dark gray. |

Leather cuirasses sound like an awful lot of work for little practical gain, when the production of steel ones was well established. Could that reference be to buffcoats rather? |

Grant does deliberately note they had leather Cuirass. I have no idea what his primary sources are. |

Leather cuirasses were lighter than steel. Some people lobbied for them as equipment for Napoleonic light cavalry |
