Hi All,

Just starting 28mm ACW.

Im looking for metal miniatures to complement my Perry battle box plastics i bought, so would value any feedback on comparable sizes quality etc.

Im not keen to stay entirely plastic – i just like the solidity of metals.

Thanks in advance for any input into this..

The Old Glory 2nd Edition metals match up very well.

Ummmm… Perry Miniatures metals? Or is that too obvious?

Sash and Saber

I have Perry metals and they work great with Perry plastics.

Perry metals. I will also second the sash and saber figures as well as the old glory second edition ACW. The second edition figures are sculpted by Chris, who does sash and saber.

They look good on the table together, but I don't know that I would mix Perry in with the other two. Just keep your Perry figures in their own units.

I own all three manufacturers products and they all paint up really well. The Sash and Saber have the most animation and poses.

Thanks – The Perry metals were obvious, but I didnt necessarily want to go that way.

Has anyone had any experience with Foundry ACW figs? Do they match up size wise?

Thanks for the suggestions, I will check them out

I have Foundry. They are just a very little bit bulkier than the Perry, but I think they were sculpted by the Perrys so they look good on the table. I have mixed them with Perry on the same stand and it does not look off. You will see a difference if you mix them into a Sash and Saber / Old Glory stand though.

I have a sash and saber Acw force. Both fed and rebel, and I could not be more pleased with them. Lots of sculpts but I do fit in perry command figs to add in some leadership variety. In addition the artillery by sash and saber is great. Lots of rifles and smooth bores to choose from.

I join the recommendations for Sash and Saber. They work well with Perry and they are fantastic sculpts.

Foundry is still one of my favorite lines, but you will find S&S or OG cheaper to collect, especially if you have the OG Army card and/or need a lot of troops.

The S&S figures are noticeably smaller than my OG 25s.

The only one to be really careful about is Redoubt. It varies a bit but some of their stuff is closer to 30mm.

Steve Barber Models is my favourite ACW 28mm range. Every figure is different within every pack. And they paint up so well!

1st Corps are pretty nice as well.
