I finished putting together the 28mm freighter from Table Top Combat and have painted it to be the ARBCO Star from the GI JOE comics:

Brilliant work! I've been looking at this model for some time but like you thought it was too low to the waterline. You're addition of height is perfect! Thanks for sharing such inspirational work! |

I have this model also, and I like your height addition a lot. Good thing is, it's not too late to add the base piece, since the bottom is nice and flat.
The model itself is really a great deal for the price, I think. rags |

First of all a frieghter in 28mm..wow! Beautiful. I havent read the blog yet but IF that is a 'lift off' type of model, i.e. you can put troops with in the model itself, at least one deck that would be nothing less then amazing. Considering its 28mm, from a company called TABLE TOP COMBAT, I would think, why build something to that scale if your not going to be able to actually move around into it. Rags Is your dock yard also 28 or 15mm, its difficult to tell by the image. thanks, great mini's and pics. |

I played in a couple of scenarios using the ship shown by Rags. It was cool, and a lot of action took place in and around the wheelhouse, but I don't think the boat was designed with easy access to the hold. Also, since the ship was low in the water it was possible to enter the ship directly from the docks, or from a boat alongside. I imagine you'd want some sort of gangplank or at least a ladder in the side. |
