…Look Like (Watch). "Reenacting D-Day is certainly one hell of a job and enthusiasts in Conneaut, Ohio prove they're up to it every year. D-Day Conneaut is one of the largest reenactment societies in America. Through realistic reenactments, they tend to emphasize the educational and historical aspect of what is becoming a very popular hobby in the US. D-Day Conneaut Inc. was founded in 1999 and has been commemorating the invasion of Normandy ever since. Starting from a small group of re-enactors who only wanted to "relive the day," the organization had made it their mission to become the largest and most historically accurate D-Day Living History Reenactment in the country. Annual re-enactments are conducted every year in front of a growing crowd of thousands of spectators…" More here link Amicalement Armand |

I liked the bit when the German surrendered and the GIs just dropped dead in front of him. |

My son and I did Conneaut this year. I went as Canadian North Shore and he went as an FJ. We ended up fighting each other. |

I've been to that re-enactment … it is very well done. With a number of period vehicles as well as Vis-Mods, etc., … It about 1 hour away from where I live. My friend's Father was with the 1st ID in the initial landings. He is still alive and he shows up in his uniform. He is @ 94. And his uniform still fits. He is living history and everyone want's to talk to him. It's quite an event. There even are gals dressed up in period garb, hair-dos, make up, etc., … Like a brief step back into history. Even some of the local mom & pop eateries in the tiny town, behind the reenactment area, post signs that say "Germans Welcome" … |
