Very nice work. How did you find the figures compared to Warlords earlier plastic boxed releases ? |
Suetonius Paullinus | 05 Oct 2016 1:51 p.m. PST |
@Miniaturesrealm The Airborne figures are just as the Blitzkrieg Germans, Grenadiers, Fallschirmjägers and Marines very easy to assemble and have sturdier weapons than the very first releases. Weapons are attached to arms for convenience. As with all miniatures the sculpting is obviously a matter of taste. Warlord's Bolt Action figures are on the 'heroic' side of things as you can see. I happen to like their plastics 8-) Cheers SP |

Looking good, SP. Will follow your progress for reference and inspiration as I have the same starter Set to do in a few weeks time ;-) |

I kinda liked the weapons being seperate from the hands. Some goofy "design compromises" are the result of arms attached to weapons. The one I hate the most is on the germans that are wearing zeltbahn. When the figures first came out, I did'nt understand why the designer had the zeltbahns "arm openings" bunched up like they did. I own several zelts, and I actully went and got one out and buttoned it up, put it on. I was thinking, "why the hell is this modelled like this?" Anyone looking at the figures will see that the figure designer had to bunch the openings so the arms holding the weapons would fit with any combo of "paired arms"/"weapons", if you get(or just look) what I mean. The "fall" of the opening would'nt look like these figures do. Anyway, its a crappy design copout, which would be avoided if the weapons were not dependent on being paired. |

Splendid work. Don't forget the knee patches. |
Suetonius Paullinus | 05 Oct 2016 3:52 p.m. PST |
No knee or elbow patches on the M43 ;-) But you can easily enough convert then for D-day:

Along with the cargo pockets the airborne did in fact add knee and elbow patches. Since they used the same materiel as that used to make the M43 uniform they are not as noticeable. |

@Suetonius Paullinus Thanks for the feedback. They certainly look better than their earlier boxes. I recently got their German Grenadiers as part of their free box, new rules deal. If these are as good as them I'll certainly be dipping my toe so to speak.. |

@jdginaz Possibly as field modification? Couldnt really find any original piccies online. Good to know tho. @Miniaturerealm I think it's fair to say they are equally good 8-) |

The pockets and patches were added from an airforce canvas material which was of a different shade but not enough to show in black and white photograghs. whilst the pocket modification seems to have been universal the patches less so. |
