I am playing through some older Ancients rule sets, and it was the turn to play Legion again. I can't recall, because when I played these in college, none of our armies had chariots or elephants, but it looks from the description of troop types that an elephant or chariot only counts as one "figure" per base (2 bases in a unit), and units take hits by figure. As usual, Heavy Infantry is 4 figures per base, LMI and LHI are 3 figures and so forth (typical WRG). But do chariots and elephants only count as 1 figure per base? That makes them very, very fragile. Am I missing something? Any comments, suggestions? |

That sounds right. I still have a copy and played it a little about 30 years ago. I do remember chariots being really fragile. |

Yes, I had a copy once upon a time, but never got around to playing it, and I believe it has since been sold. |

I remember seeing these rules, but not buying them. I regretted not buying them because I was a rules collector back then. Of course, all I played back then was WRG Ancients, which makes my rules collecting mania rather bizarre. |

Had a lot of fun with these rules. A co-worker & myself would have battles during our lunch hour with unpainted Airfix figures mounted on balsa wood bases. |
