Here's some in-progress (crappy phone camera) shots of my GI Joe project. I'm using Two Hour War Game's free "Chain Reaction" rules for it.

Duke, waiving his troops into battle:

I gave Scarlett dual crossbows:

And Lady Jaye got an upgrade from her laser spear thing to an MP5:

Snake Eyes with Timber:

And (my favorite) Bazooka:

I have 12 of these generic Joes, enough for 3 teams under the ruleset I'm using.

Gulik2304 Oct 2016 8:26 a.m. PST

And now for Cobra the Enemy:

A Cobra Trooper sergeant:

Destro, former space pimp:

With the Baroness, of course:

Here's Firefly:

And everyone's favorite ninja, Stormshadow:

One of the Arashikage ninja horde:

Finally, here's a Viper Trooper:

I have a number of other characters in the works, including the rest of the Cobra and Joe leadership and Zartan and the Dreadnoks.

Sweet! Did you nab any of these guys?

They just scream Cobra Viper to me.

Ivan DBA04 Oct 2016 9:34 a.m. PST

Fantastic! These are great!

The only prob with these figures, is that they would be hard to pose and use in upcoming Robot Chicken episodes!

wink

Gulik2304 Oct 2016 10:41 a.m. PST

Thanks, everyone! This has been a really fun project so far. I've tracked down figures and parts from 8 different manufactures and done a bit of sculpting and made some custom decals, too!
I didn't see those guys for Vipers--they look really cool though.

Crazyivanov04 Oct 2016 12:33 p.m. PST

Those RGJ guys look a lot like Mega Vipers. Just paint them magenta and yellow and you've got the human element of Mind Bender's Monster Squads. Then all you'll need to find is Cyber Vipers, Monstro Vipers and Bio Vipers.

So far for Cobra grunts I have the standard troopers, the vipers and some crimson guard. The ninjas will be another squad of cobra grunts, as will the dreadnoks (though they will be a "special" grunt unit).

Old Wolfman05 Oct 2016 7:04 a.m. PST

And the Crimson Twins,Tomax & Xamot?

Gulik2305 Oct 2016 9:50 a.m. PST

Oh, yeah, they'll be showing up too! Doing the "mirror image" twin thing entailed too much work (one of my guiding precepts for this project has been "close enough is good enough") so I have doubles of a mini, one of which will receive the scar.
Also on deck for Cobra are Serpentor, Cobra Commander, Major Bludd, Dr. Mindbender, Zartan and Zarana. For the Joes I have Hawk, Flint, Rock n Roll, Roadblock, Gung Ho, Tunnel Rat, Stalker, Recondo, Ace and Breaker. Maybe one or two others as well.

Looks like all sorts of trademark infringement. Be aware those major companies have staff dedicated just to locate infringement.

I saw the 25mm Star Wars that was submitted to the producers. They were great but they decided to go with Kenner back in th the late 1970 s. The sculptor had to destroy the molds which is another story.
Composition nor size is not enough to avoid infringement. Best of luck.

Very nice! I've been doing a Snake Eyes mod as well. I I also thought an Imperial Fighter Pilot from Star Wars would make a great Wild Weasel figure. A paint job was all that was needed.

Which figures would you recommend for Tomax and Xamot? They're my favorite characters, but I've never been able to find suitable miniatures to represent them.

Gulik2306 Oct 2016 5:59 a.m. PST

The Imp Fighter Pilot would make a great Wild Weasel! For Tomax and Xamot, I used this mini, "Daniel Sterling, Secret Agent of GUARD" from Reaper.

I decided to go with T&X in their Wall Street alter egos, but there is some good inspiration for them in their armor here:

The person who did this project found mirror image twins in armor to use for them; he did some amazing kit bashing for vehicles as well. On one of the threads I think he says what minis he used for them.

Belated thanks for your input, Gulik23. I had forgotten about this thread until yesterday. I'll look out for those miniatures for Tomax and Xamot.

Love your project!! What minis did you use for your generic Joes? Thanks

Gulik2319 Jul 2019 11:54 a.m. PST

Thanks! One of these days I'll post pics of all the finished characters, grunts, vehicles & equipment. I think my last count was around 82 minis (many of those are grunts/troopers tho).
Anyway, my "green shirt" Joes are Crossover miniatures cops in assault gear. I think they're oop tho.

Awesome job!! Can't wait to see the pics!! Thanks for the info!!
