Just wanted to share a "how to" article about building a Tau tower. I think it came out pretty good.

My guess was PVC pipe. Looks great!

Looks great thumbs up The windows add great interest to the tower. Couldn't figure how you did that so thank you for the tutorial.

I dunno if this is of interest but the end cap joint, butt to butt, would make me uneasy about it's fragility. If the inside diameter of the cap and the ring joint of tube #3 are the same a bit of pipe fitted into the ring joint and into the end cap would be proof against lateral pressure

I once gave somebody a plastic agitator from an old top-load clothes washer for a similar purpose…

Very cool. In your tutorial you state the pipe was $110 USD, is that correct? Seems that at those prices one could almost afford Forgeworld products.

Part of the cost is that that I went BIG! A 7-inch-in-diameter pipe has a lot of plastic to it, and some of these pieces are only used occasionally--hence the markup.

You could probably knock the price down 30% by buying pieces occasionally, waiting for sales or coupons to knock down the prices.

But once I realized what I could do, I just went for it--darn the wallet. But I'm a crazy hobbyist.

Cheers!
