I could have sworn there was a movie thread for the F&IW. Having just watched the 1992 Last of the Mohicans, what other offerings are there? I thought of Black Robe, but on second thought that's about a century too early, isn't it! Thanks! |

With Spencer Tracy, wasn't it? Was that a Rogers' Rangers movie, or am I thinking of another one? |

Both "The Iroquois Trail" and "Unconquered" are on youtube. "Pathfinder" was made in the 50s and "The Pathfinder" was made in the 90s, but the full movies are not on youtube. |

The French and Indian Wars Message Board is relatively new. So that thread is probably not on it. Try an advanced search on Google. |

@Sundance, Yes, Northwest Passage did star Spencer Tracy as Robert Rogers. It was based on a wonderful historical novel by Kenneth Roberts. The movie only dealt with about half of the novel, which is why the movie title doesn't seem to make sense. Rogers had heard rumors of a great river in the far West, and wanted to lead an exploratory expedition to search for it. If that had happened, he would have preempted Lewis & Clark by a half century. By the way, Kenneth Roberts also wrote two great novels about the American Revolution and Benedict Arnold (when he was still a hero). The titles are "Arundel" and "Rabble in Arms." |

Don't forget the 1940's "Drums Along the Mohawk," a great inspiration to this 7-year-old to enlist in the US Army! GdeP |

What about "The broken chain" with Pierce Brosnan, Eric Schweig, Wes Studi and Graham Greene? It is from 1993. |

Black Robe does count since the French and Indian Wars lasted for a very long time and, I suppose, you might even count a little bit of the AWI, though probably not since I don't think the French were involved on the natives side in that conflict. Or is this board strictly limiting itself to 1754 to 1763 – or stopping so early as to leave out Pontiac's Rebellion. Shouldn't. Or if it does needs a more limiting title. |

'The Black Robe' is pre-F.& I. War. However, it is a really good movie! Tom Semian Avalon, PA. 15202 |

"By the way, Kenneth Roberts also wrote two great novels about the American Revolution and Benedict Arnold (when he was still a hero). The titles are "Arundel" and "Rabble in Arms." His AWI book _Oliver Wiswell_ about a Loyalist is one of the best ones he did on the period. |
