It carries one person and has no weapons. What makes it an "assault vehicle"? It looks like a somewhat safer-than-average recreational ATV. It's big and fuel-intensive compared to a motorcycle for solo reconnaissance work. It looks like it has a little cargo space, so it could be used for carrying small amounts of ammunition, and it looks like it can go fast and keep a low profile, so it might work as an ammo carrier near a battle. You could possibly mount some kind of weapon (auto grenade launcher, maybe) in that little rear cargo area, and give the pilot a HUD to control it. That would make it an assault ATV. I assume that it's manufactured by some company that hires retired generals as consultants, and that's how it was procured. Single-seat ground vehicles are actually very rare in any military. |

All excellent points I was thinking a remote control weapon on the roof, but who would control that while the driver is busy not crashing into things? |

Forgeworld doesn't understand that "assault" has a specific military meaning. It's the final phase of an attack where the attacker comes into close contact with the enemy and is characterized by maximum violence on the objective. Instead, Hollywood and many game studios not run by veterans misuse the term "assault" in the same way that many manufacturers misuse "tactical" to denote anything that is matte black and covered with MOLLE loops. "Assault" vehicles don't mean vehicles which look all cool and assaulty; it would mean vehicles which are armed and armored in a manner consistent with close-quarters combat. |
