A few weeks ago I was chatting on a thread on the TMP 18th Century Forum, about 1:72 scale plastic model soldiers. I mentioned that I had a lot of them ( actually several thousands ) and one of the other members asked if I had a Blog, so that he could see them. At that time I did not, but the conversation inspired me to set one up.
I have been helping my daughter with her Wordpress website, so I was familiar with that platform, and have now created my website: Rod's Wargaming ( rodwargaming.wordpress.com ) .
The website has a Top Menu, with main sections of Ancients ( with drop-down pages of Roman and Medieval ) , Horse and Musket ( with drop-down pages of 18th Century, Napoleonic and Zulu War ) and General ( with drop-down pages of Terrain, Planning, Modelling Tips and Wargame Accessories ) . Most of these drop-down pages have further drop-down sub-pages from them.
There is also a Top Menu item of Military Historical Research, since I have always combined my wargaming with straight research, publishing articles and giving PowerPoint presentations. This section currently has four articles, on Authorised Establishments of the British Army 1802-1815, British Converged Light Battalions, Battalion Field Strengths during the Napoleonic Wars and Field Strengths of Cavalry Squadrons during the Napoleonic Wars. Other articles will follow.
Finally, there is an About page, telling readers a little about me. Since I started wargaming over 50 years ago in Southampton, which many might regard as the spiritual home of wargaming in UK, you will notice some well known pioneers of the hobby mentioned there.
I will use the blog on the website to record my latest modelling and wargaming activities, as well as announcing any new Military Historical Research articles on the site.
