hanks Armand : this vignette represents the Mongol generals celebrating victory over the Russian /allied princes after the battle of Khalka River in 1223; it seems to have been inspired by the artwork of Osprey Camppaign title dedicated to the same battle , in turn inspired by the historical chronicles stating the Mongols putting the defeated prices to death by suffocation while banqueting over their bodies. A very cruel and dispregiative way of killing an enemy , although the Russian princes had the Mongol emissaries asking for terms, killed….A nice vignette indeed which can be used a marker/camp on the battlefield…
