Great sculpts for a period that certainly needs more exposure!

Just pulled the trigger on an order.

Sorry if I'm hijacking this thread, but these Shinsengumi makes me curious about making a small set of opposite force for Sharp Practice, once we've gotten our Napoleonic armies ready at the club.

For the bulk of the army I'm thinking about converting some plastics though, using the Bac Ninh head sets. I'm curious about which set out there would be the most suitable for that. The new Perry Union Infantry set? link

The thing that sticks out to me is the blanket roll, which I haven't seen on any pictures from the Boshin War. Would they still work? Or would they work as long as I leave out the blanket rolls? Or would I be better served by some other plastic kit altogether? How off would the Perry British in Sudan box be?

There's also the question about getting the right guns, as I understand that Minie rifle were most common on the imperial side, while the shogunate side had much more variety. Any good ideas?

Hi Setsuko,

The new Perry union infantry with Bac Ninh heads can work well for the Boshin War.

About the blanket roll, personally I prefer the figures without this, but anyway I don't see any problem with it.

Thanks! Good to hear about the blanket roll, that I didn't miss anything. I've seen pictures with a blanket roll folded around backpacks, but none with them carried over the shoulder.
