SESSION 22: SERIOUS REPERCUSSIONS ROUND 3B – STABLISING MOVES • A shaken counter is taken off each of the orcs. • Lorah rolls to see if he stabilises. He needs a DC 10 + his negative hit points – his con bonus so he needs a 10 + 4 -1 = 13. He rolls a 14 and stabilises. Penn rolls to see if he stabilises. He rolls a 15 and also stabilises. • Risandor continues with Inspire Courage and he casts Daze against Uffe. It's a DC 10 + 0 for spell level + 3 for Risandor Cha modifier = 13 Will save. Uffe rolls a 1 and is Dazed and cannot act next round. • Halee 5ft steps to the south east and fires an arrow at the Matriarch and hits her in the left thigh for 2pts of damage. She asks Ansic too Ready his action in case the orcs push forward. Ansic Ready's his action. • Uthalin attacks Uffe. His dwarven war axe bites deep into Uffes' left leg dealing 9pts of damage to his favoured foe. • Ghislain yells for Dedrik to drag Lorah away from the fight. Dedrik uses one move action to move up to Lorah and a second to drag him away from the fight to a safer position. • Gishlain moves 10ft to the east and attacks the Matriarch with his short spear but he misses. • Thomas moves 10ft to the north east to block the path of the orc to Halee. He thinks about intimidating the female but realises that she's already Shaken and so he decides to attack her with his long sword. He stabs at the Matriarch but misses. • Cord jumps up and down on the spot. Throwing a little tanti because he cannot really get into the action this round.
ROUND 4A – OUT OF THE MUCK • Ansic removes his last Shaken counter. • Magor uses his two move actions to pick up his shield, moves 10ft and drags the bed 5ft to the north. • Uffe looks on Dazed. • The Matriarch in combat swings her falchion at Ghislain and hits him in the groin for 7pts of damage. • The last remaining female attempts to take a 5ft step to the south west. She needs to make a DC 10 +1 for studded leather = 11 Acrobatics check and rolls a 4. She fails by more than 5 and falls prone. She uses her second move action to try to crawl out of the grease but this time to the north. She rolls a 14 and is able to crawl out.
ROUND 4B – RAZZLE DAZZLE • A Shaken counter is removed from each of the orcs as is the dazed counter from Uffe. • Risandor continues to Inspire Courage and casts Daze upon the attacking Matriarch. She needs to make a DC 13 Will save and she rolls an 11, fails and is Dazed. • Halee hands off a potion of healing to Ansic who slugs it down healing back 8pts of damage and bringing him back up to full strength. She fires an arrow at the female but misses. • Uthalin hacks at the orc chief trying to add another set of trophy ears to his collection but he misses. • Thomas stabs at the female but misses. • Ghislain also stabs at the female but also misses. • Dedrik watches from the back of the room…..hoping that he doesn't have to get into combat again. • Cord moves 10ft to the north to get into a better position to counter attack.
ROUND 5A – SWING AND A MISS • Recovering from being Dazed, Uffe swings his great axe at Uthalin. The mighty warriors are seemingly locked in single hand to hand combat as if no one else is in the room with them. He brings down the axe but misses Uthalin. • Magor moves up 15ft to behind the female in combat. • The northern most female stands up and throws a javelin at Uthalin but Uthalins new breastplate together with her aim being off by being shaken defeats the deadly missile. • The Dazed female looks on in the middle of the combat, frustrated that she is unable to act.
ROUND 5B – A NASTY SCAR • The remaining Shaken counters are removed from the orcs as is the Dazed counter. • Risandor continues to Inspire Courage. • Uthalin raises his axe again against Uffe and the combination of Inspire Courage and his dwarven hatred against orcs is just enough to help him penetrate the orcs plate male armour. He hits Uffe in the groin for 15pts of damage, severely wounding him. • Ghislain attacks the female but misses again. • Thomas stabs at the female with his long sword and hits her in the left shoulder for 11pts of damage. The female is mortally wounded but her savage ferocity keeps her on her feet for the moment. • Halee fires an arrow at the female and hits her in the face for 5pts of damage, dropping the monster for good.
ROUND 6A – SOUND DEFENCE • Uffe attacks Uthalin and once again misses. • Magor 5ft steps to the south west and attacks Thomas but he misses. • The female loops around the bed.

I really look forward to reading these. Thanks. |

Yay, Thomas actually hit something. |
Dartagnan2016 | 27 Sep 2016 2:51 p.m. PST |
Hmmm, after using a Daze on Magor, Risandor could move up to the left of Uthalin and use an aid another action to help him attack…. |
Mardaddy | 27 Sep 2016 3:04 p.m. PST |
If I recall, unless you have a reach weapon, and strike at -4 over Uthalin's square, you're not going to be able to do that, I believe to Aid Another in the attack you have to be in a threatened square to your enemy. I could be wrong, though… gonna have to re-check that when I get home. If I am right – Better you hang back and keep up the music. We need every +1 we can get! We also need to pick a point where we light up an oil flask and toss it into the grease… The fire damage might kill Uffe! It is a 10 to hit a square 10ft away, Halee does have a +3 to ranged weapons (which includes a throw.) Normally an oil flask has a 50% chance to ignite if thrown, but with the grease, it is ALL flammable. 1d6 that round, 1d6 the following round (unless he does a full-round reflex save DC15 putting himself out. The grease did its job and they are all dead or almost past it now, should I revise my email to DEW with new actions igniting the grease? |

I think you're right, lighting up the grease would do some damage, but also prevents us exploiting and overlapping the last few enemy …. it could act as a barrier to enable them to withdraw……. Risandor can maintain the inspire courage and either keep dazing different enemies or get in a position to use his bow …. just try and add some pain to the fight, although his last three arrows all did just 1 pt of damage! The grease also only lasts 1 minute, so its nearly gone …. |

Thomas is going to back off and let someone like Cord to get in and deal the damage. |
Mardaddy | 28 Sep 2016 10:51 a.m. PST |
I am open to suggestions, not trying to convince, just putting the mechanics out front to help us decide: Only four rounds have passed since the spell = 24sec of that 1min duration, so another 36sec (6rds) left If the goal is to exploit, we have to wait until it goes away or we'd be subject to the same fall risk. Burning it gets rid of it in two rounds, letting it expire takes six rounds. It is a Full Round Action to prep an oil flask for throwing, so Halee can stay put, prep it this round, then next round move next to where Cord is presently and throw it, or move this round now and bowshot Uffe instead. I'm open to either. |
Echoco | 28 Sep 2016 11:08 a.m. PST |
If burning it means the cave wouldn't collapse and it'll go out in a short time then I vote burn it. Though some might object to not getting to kill the orcs. |
Tom Molon | 28 Sep 2016 1:18 p.m. PST |
Does the number of remaining hit points affect one's ability to deal damage, if not, than Uffe, with only 5 left is as big a threat as when he had full points. Get him out fast, before he has the chance to really hurt somebody. Halee can use her bow (can she stand on the table in SE corner and fire over friendlies at him)? Or Uthalin. Switch places between Thomas and Ansic and let the PC heavy hitters slug it out with Magor. Cord can move in to deal with the last female if she moves into Uffe's spot. I wouldn't burn it: no one to possibly harm but Uffe, and it gives the others cover to retreat. Better to leave the grease there, it'll impede Uffe and either of the others if they move into it for a few more rounds, which could be helpful, plus if things go badly, you can always fire it up in another round or two. Just my $.02 USD |

Tom – in PF, remaining HP has no effect on your ability to strike, so yea, he is as big a threat wounded as full strength. The action is already over now, but all you've mentioned are viable options. Remember that each player is contacting DEW via email with their actions/intentions, and that is far different than one person orchestrating the movements of all; when you control all of the characters, there is optimized communication between all players and nobody misses an opportunity -- the missed opportunity becomes a thing that sometimes happens with multiple players declaring different actions independently their knowledge of what the others are doing. DEW is doing a great job of organizing what could in fact be conflicting movement and combat intentions from the various players and making it all into one cohesive story… Some of the players are coming here to discuss things together to weight options, most are not, or if they are reading, they are not voicing their input (which is fine, big tent, everyone plays a little different and all that.) I've told the DM that as a person, "Halee is not a dreamer, she is a schemer and a planner, always looking for advantage, communicating with her allies constantly, not demanding, but trying to shape the battle." |

Hi guys. Thanks for the kind words and understanding. Had a little trouble with TMP this morning but the new post should be up now. The chaos from getting different inputs from all over the shop is actually quite interesting (and I wish I could publish it all at some stage but it's probably not feasible). Tom I've got to say mate it's been great having some experienced guys like Mardaddy and some new guys like your good self on the team. The new guys bring a lot of raw roleplay elements to the game which I really appreciate and the more experienced guys bring some tactical complexity which is great too. All in all its a lot of fun and certainly a lot better than watching TV. DEW |

Watch TV = mind turns off. Organize all the various player elements and resolutions for a session = mind stays active and entertained. I know what I'd choose… |
