I like the plastic ACW cavalry, more than the metal British Sudan cavalry.

Has anyone tried the plastic pith helmets on the ACW bodies? Is the uniform close enough in style or would this just look silly?

I am not bothered by complete accuracy in uniform but wouldn't want to do it if it looked >really< stoopid.

hello…i had a similar idea…those ACW Perry cav seem quite versatile…i was planning to have some attempt at making, out of the bodies, some FPW and Colonial as well…teh cut of the trousers, the short jacket, the bandolier seem ok for the purpose
this guy made out of them some AZW Britixh cavalr which is similar to what you would like to do…anyway he says that it had been a long work

Funny you should ask. I used Perry ACW cavalry and Warlord pith helmets.

Sold :) also think I can mod for Sikh cavalry and Turkish as well. Think I'm going to use Gripping Beast Arab cavalry for Mamluks 1800 too, I'm happy for loose representations as long as they 'look like' the troop type without howls of derision. Just built up a couple of units of Ottaman infantry cira Napoleon's Egypt campaign (can be used later too) using Perry ACW plastic zouaves with GB arabic heads. Now to paint them. More ideas guys, keep em coming.

It works great! I went kinda crazy buying the war-games factory brits and used some extra pith helmets to make cavalry from the perry sets. a friend had some extra standard bearer hands so now I have a nice unit of Lancers!
