My kids are interested in reading up on the Cold War. Can anyone recommend a decent, balanced book on the subject that would be good for youngsters? |

David: I'm not sure of the reading level of your children but "The Wall" by Peter Sis might be a good one. Another recommendation is for, "The Loud Silence of Francine Green", by Karen Cushman. Although not really a Cold War book, George Orwell's "Animal Farm" could be a good primer for family discussions of ideologies and totalitarianism. Here is a page with a couple of other choices but I have no first hand knowledge of the other books. link Cheers. Rod Robertson. |

What age are the kids? Unless they are teenagers, a big book about politics might get way over their heads. |

If it's for gaming purposes go with Team Yankee and Red Storm Rising. |

This might be a good introduction for youngsters. I enjoy flicking through it – lots of photos, maps reproduced documents and a DVD. link
