I see some great photos of german tanks in a thre colour scheme clearly base coated in german yellow (I know). But the primers I use from PSC or Vallejo are significantly sand coloured. Not that attractive greenish shade. So what are people using please? Many thanks |

I use Tamiya Dark Yellow. It's a pretty good match for the German Dunkel Gelb |

I was wondering about this too. My basecoat stuff from AK is definitely more green than sand – maybe accurate, but looks weird-ish. So maybe AK is your cup of tea? |

I use Flames of War German Armour Yellow, with washes and dry brushing after. I posted this photo in another thread recently. [URL=http://s219.photobucket.com/user/tjm3/media/IMG_1484.jpg.html]

I don't think Dark yellow should have much of a greenish tint at all. I too use primarily Tamiya dark yellow (which I airbrush). ISTR AK paints coming under criticism for shades that were a bit off. Damon. |

I second the Flames of War/Battlefront paint. It is currently called "Panther Yellow," and comes in both spray and brush-on. link link |

Dunkelgelb varied in shade from a mustard yellow, through a mid tan to a sort of slightly greenish yellow. Much modern restored equipment is painted the mid tan colour (which actually makes complete sense as it is dried mud colour). They are all RAL 7028 (although iirc the yellow one is Dunkelgelb nach Muster) Personally I think the green dunkelgelb looks really wierd so go for tan/yellow shades. Then cover it in mud and dust;) |

Another vote for Tamiya XF-60 Dark Yellow. And you are in luck as they also sell it in a spray can as TS-3 Dark Yellow. |

I agree that the yellow should work, but then I see Piers doing stuff and I get panzer green envy |

Suggest taking a look at the Tamiya Dark Yellow, the name does not do it justice. Bit of a tan and maybe hint of green mixed in. Use their Dark Green XF-61 and Red Brown XF-64 and you have a very good camo going. Might want to ask Piers what he is using. |
