So, I'm a Traveller guy. I've got most of Grenadier's old 25mm Traveller figures and the Mega Minis figures and the RAFM minis. I've got all of the RAFM 15mm re-release. Sadly there really isn't much support for 25mm these days though Ral Partha's Chaos Wars kickstarter indicates that there is if there's enough nostalgia behind it.

I'm an amateur sculptor and I do okay but I'm no Tom Meir.

Anyhow, we're living in a 33mm world these days but I can't help but wonder how much of a market there would be for a 25mm science fiction range.

What I'd like is support for a wide variety of aliens. Somewhat like larger ranges of fantasy roleplaying figures do. Somewhere between six and a dozen sculpts covering military and civilian options with separate heads. I think the heavy weapons could be interchangeable but I don't think the personal weapons would benefit from that treatment in 25mm.

I'd lean towards Light Infantry / Paramilitary, Heavy Infantry / Battle Pods, Naval Crew, and civilian categories getting around three figures/poses each.

I'd like a mix of humanoid, furry, and utterly weird aliens. I know some people hate furries and that's fine but other people like them and that's fine too and the goal of the range would be variety not depth of support for each race.

I'd also like some vehicle support though I don't think the vehicles would need to be race specific.

Why not 28mm? Well, mostly because it doesn't fit with what I've got. But also it's about half as much metal per figure, less space in the mould, and thus less expensive. With vehicles the cost benefits may even be greater.

Anyhow it's on my long list of projects I'd like to do. I don't have mass production capabilities but I am on good terms with the guys at RAFM so contract casting may be an option.

Assuming an acceptable but not fantastic quality of sculpting and casting. Would something like this interest people?

A quick tutorial on building a house using good old cereal box card.

I did one for a timber framed thatched house using MDF and balsa wood (mainly) with windows and doors by War Bases. The shot below shows the materials and tools required. Also did one on painting the thing.

That is very nice olicana; I am doing the exact same thing right now, using the same materials, except the buildings will be for my Mordheim table so they will be somewhat more… tattered.

David Johansen the bug bit you. Repost
But short answer maybe. Ground Zero still has their 25mm figures available. em4 has some

Ground Zero does a lot of humans but only a few aliens. em4's stuff is more 28mm than 25 if from the short and squat "European style" period.

They farmed out their vehicles to another company, possibly due to restrictions on the use of resin in the UK.

Thanks Codsticker,

actually I made a big mistake with that house. Normally, I only do an overhang to the front but with this one I did front and back. Because of it, although the ground plan is the same range as my other buildings this one looks far too large, possibly this perception is made worse by the light colour of the thatched roof.

The War Bases windows and doors have been a godsend. They make everything easy and look that much better than home made. One tip for using them, is to paint the 'glass' in the construction phase (before sticking on the windows). This speeded up later painting considerably and looks far neater – as with this coaching inn.
