Will these fellows do as Canadians at the battle of Ridgeway?

The hat looks vaguely like an Albert shako but I'm not sure about the coat.

Any views most appreciated.

The shoulder rolls would have to come off and it's hard to make out exactly how long the skirts of the tunics are but otherwise I think they would work okay.

Thanks for that.

These guys are your best bet in 15mm:

I've ordered from them in the past, good service. I made headswaps for the Welland Canal Field Artillerists in bearskin hats, I also have some of the QRF Risorgimento guys to use for head swaps to add some guys in shako rather than the pork pie cat seen above. The Battleline miniatures are nice sculpts.

Thanks PAR they are very nice figures and I've admired your conversions before.

The thing is I'm going to be using the Men Who Would Be Kings rules so I only need 36 figures. Long distance purchase might not be an option but I'll check out the postage. I'd certainly like at least one unit in pork pie hats.

The Fenians are easy I've loads of ACW stuff lying around.

Hi Guys

The figures look great and caatch the period quite well. I would suspect that the artillerists are a tad overdressed.
First, Welland was a real backwater and I doubt they had the money to afford full dress busbies and second Ridgeway was very hot so the busbies would have literally killed their wearers I suspect they wore straw hats which is an old Canadian standby However that is really nitpicking and in a game the better the troops look the nicer the game.

Here is a good link to a Fenian site that gives lots of interesting information

That is interesting and opens up the possibility of head swaps to field a unit in straw hats.

Toronto, I am sure you are 100% right; I think I've have seen a photo with the Welland Battery chaps with the busby, and since that was the official headgear i decided that would look more splendid on the tabletop! Again, I highly doubt that they wore it in that heat but figured my tabletop WCFB wouldn't mind. Thanks for the link!
