I was reading the post about how drug addicts and drug dealers might fare in a post apocalyptic world. One of the responses mentions diabetes. If the zombies or whatever post apocalyptic threats are on their way, and you have about 4 minutes to raid the Costco pharmacy, what do you grab? You can think of this for yourselves or for your tabletop warriors. I have type 2 and asthma, so I'm grabbing metformin and inhalers. What else is easy to find or worth your time to find? Do you grab antibiotics, painkillers, thyroid medicine? Would you know where to look? What do you think are the most important things to grab to help see you (or your minis) through the rest of your Armageddon life (their campaign). |

I'd go for antibiotics and pain killers. Meds are organized in alphabetical order by brand or generic name. They may also be broken up by alphabetical order into several groups, such as a group of commonly used meds, a group of less commonly used meds, etc. Refrigerated meds will be in their refrigerator. I assume that pharmacies still have safes as well. You can also grab fish antibiotics. Of course, without a stable food and water supply, you won't live long enough to need the meds. |

Whatever is locked up. If it needs to be locked now it should have good trade value then. |

(Assuming a standard American convenience store & pharmacy – CVS, Walgreens, etc.) Antibiotics first. Painkillers second – all of them, OTC and scrip. Then, in no particular order: Toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash – you really, really want to avoid oral infections. Toilet paper – good while it lasts. Tampons/pads – same as with TP. Tide you over until a workable, sustainable substitute can be found. Diapers – same as above. Vitamins – because your food supply will be poor. Esp. pregnancy formulations. You want to avoid as many complications as possible. Anti-diarrhea – you'll need these. No matter how hard you try, your water won't be pre-collapse clean. Soap – all of it, every kind. Wash your hands. Tobacco and alcohol – use and trade. Lighters and supplies – fire good. Cleaning supplies – again, after violence, disease is going to be your biggest threat. Cleanliness is next to Aliveliness! 4 minutes won't be enough, unless you've got a prepped and trained group of 10 or more, plus guards. But good luck, anyway! You're going to need it. |

I was just going with 4 minutes on the pharmacy because that's what was posted but, yeah, your list is good. Feminine hygiene pads are also pretty good trauma dressings. While you are at it, you might as well clean out the first aid supplies but, the more you take, the more people you need to carry stuff out of the store, and it still has to be transported somewhere. A couple of boxes of energy bars would come in handy as well. Depending on the store, they might have book bags for you to load your loot into. Don't forget flashlights and batteries, and grab a bottle of bleach if you can. There is strength in numbers. With rare exception, the lone wolf survivor is going to die off or be killed. |

Metformin(Type II), antibiotics and pain killers in that order. |

Gah, how did I forget flashlights and batteries? And thinking about it, almost all of the food would be useful, even the junk – at that point, you're going to need as many calories as you can carry off. Thinking about the layout of the CVS and Walgreens down the street from me…that's pretty much everything, except beauty products and magazines. |

If its just a pharmacy then pain killers and anti-biotics. I'm on statins and ramipril, but can go without them easily. The problem with antibiotics is misuse, leading to resistance. Given our pharmacies over here, aside from bandages etc, I'd also go for the slimming and body building supplements, as they are designed to replace food. |
