I used this ruined rubble filled stone wall vignette as an excuse to experiment with carving and scribing polystyrene insulation.

The results aren't quite as great as the image I had in my mind, but it was a fun attempt!

Me as well.

I like it too, but have always felt such terrain pieces look somewhat more natural on a round or oval base than on a square -- unless part of a city-scape or built-up area.

Right nice.

Thank you, gentlemen. Glad you liked it.

The walled bit is nice, the rubble is superb, the imagination that went into totally transforming the officer is what really impresses me…it is "just" a paint job. "Just"……..

My attic is filled with sheets of that pink insulation board, bought when my twin lads were LOTRs mad (ten years ago). I still have that battery thing, designed to carve such, connected to a wire, that sets off every smoke alarm in our house.

Try using an aerosol spray on that stuff, some time. But only in the open air. It dissolves the whole thing instantly into something released across no man's land in 1915…… Trust me………I did not know!

But you did know to dock the horse's tail, brown harness…I envy the photography…but I do agree a circular or oval base would have been better (but only once some one else points that out!)

Haha, yes, I was already aware of the aerosol propellant meets foam problem. Supposedly you can use it to good effect, but like you imply, the gases released are extremely toxic.

Thanks for the compliments on the figure. I'll take credit for knowing to paint the harness brown, but all the rest of it is up to the quality of the Perry casting (I didn't do any conversion or modification) and interpolating from color plates in the Peninsular Light Infantry book from Osprey. The figure is from their "Mounted Light Infantry Colonels" pack.

Oh, and I should say you guys are probably right about a round or oval shape appearing more natural.

I'm not _too_ concerned about it, though, as I'll probably use some strategically placed loose lichen or clump foliage to break up the profile of the shape.
