Francis first signed up to join the Canadian Army at the beginning of World War One, and he served right through to the end in 1918. Seems like the Canadian Army needs to do what the US Army is doing and re-examine gallantry awards for non-white soldiers to see if there was any discrimination towards them. Sounds like Pegahmagabow's award may have been deliberately downgraded because of his ethnicity (in MHO). Jim |
